This question is rather arbitrary. If you're after a universal pat on the back for America (which you seem to be fishing for) it's not going to happen (except maybe from your fellow Americans)

The best nation? Best at what? Best for who? It's an extremely loose open ended question that can't be answered.

I'll give you one thing, the US is indeed the best nation at exploiting third world countries for cheap labour, and they are also the best at starting unjustified wars

I think you mean NO DEBATING. radiojake's post contained no expletives and no attacks on individual people. Therefore not a flame. It was a valid point in what may or may not become a debate. If you don't want anyone to debate the point, then you obviously shouldn't have centered it around a pseudo-controversial topic.

Suprising how low uk is in lifestyle. I agree most of europe and the commonwealth is higher than us but i have seen living standards in the us and i would think, although their rich are richer, in general wesould be higher.

I certanly dont think US should be higher than the Netherlands

Scandinavian countries all have good lifestyles. I wont mind paying higher tax to recieve more public services and a smoother and happier lifestyle. However, Im happy in the UK, but I could never vote for a single country which is the "best".
