in my opinions us teenagers think we are invincible so we do what older (hence more careful) people wouldnt do and for me if i actually do some crazy or wierd it usually works!
There are some very wise and sophisticated teenagers here that is for sure.
here comes the but... however, i think if you take the top half of the scoreboard it will, in the main, be made up of fogies.
knowledge not age does wisdom make!?
the non teenagers, to the point where you can still remember what you had for breakfast, (hmmm .. i think i had a croissant...) have more chance of knowing more; there's just been more time to pick up stuff.
At the very least the aged have worked out what they need to know. This makes the brain less cluttered with unnecessary complexity.
that's what my Nan said anyway.. but she is just plain lucky and only rolls 6's!

exactly my point
those "fogies" as you termed them (your words not mine) probably have more time on their hands, likely more money too. they are able to get up do their daily fart and play a bunch of speed games whereas we teens are stuck in school until the afternoon and even then we gotta do homework
I'd be interested to know exactly how age is spread.
I am sure you have a good point but i see most of the best players, young and old, will take a risk..
what the best have learned is how to take a risk without always handing the game to another... so plan A (which may indeed have a relatively low probability of success) has a plan B.
being older u think about the moves so much more than a teenager does. a teen does a move without fully thinking as an adult thinks through a move.
and i think older people are more careful of the points they risk causing them to have higher scores.
so i think the older u are the more points u end up with, for the most part
But for the most part, I feel that the general consensus is that teens tend to take more risks, which is true for the most part. But I for one also tend to think out my moves more than then average joe would (unless I'm in a hurry, which is most of the time ). So I really don't think that stereotyping would do much, as different players have different strategies.
Ya know, like diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
I think that teenagers would take more risks and have different ideas of what attacks are safe. OF course they might lose(like I did when I took a 2nd continent when I should've just concentrated on my first) but on the other hand they might become lucky and win.

Where's the problem ? Quit the school, have much more time on your hands and play more games
It all depends. The older people will tend to have more experience with the game, but younger people tend to learn faster (and have more time to play on top of that). That is of course generally speaking - I know some absolute shithead teenagers who couldn't fight their way across a map of neutrals if they had 1000 armies on Doodle Earth.
It also depends what you mean by skill. Because of the contrasting strategies required between escalating/flat/no cards, adjacent/unlimited forts, and sequential/freestyle gameplay, a person could be literally unbeatable in one type of game but easily susceptible to loss in any other format. I like to think of myself as quite a flat rate player, but I know that I don't have the mindset for escalating games. My strategy just doesn't work well with it.
I think age does matter. In fact, it's vitally important. I had a friend once who used to say that age didn't matter at all, now he's in jail for date rape. True story.
In conclusion, it's best if they're not teenagers. Although some teenagers are pretty good. Not sure if I agree about them taking more risks though, older people tend to be more into that sort of stuff, experience tends to mean they're bored of playing it safe.
So yeah, both are pretty good, but risk-taking teenagers are probably the best in my book.

you mean i slog my guts out at work 5 days a week and all i really have to do is get up and let one rip and play games for the rest of the day.
meh. I don't really think it's so much to do with "age" age but "cc" age. A teenager who has been playing for a while is probably gonna be better than an "adult newbie" and vice versa.
