Conquer City Map - Rough draft page 1

Post by cazmart »

I have an idea for a City Map. Town hall, suburbs, Hospital, schools and such. I have did a rough version in excel just to make things linear.

Wondered what people would think.

Also what program would I need to actually start doing the real map.

I showed my printout to some friends who play and they liked it and convinced me to try. So here I am.

Thanks for any Help

Rough draft

Post by cazmart »

NOTE to EVERYONE: This is nothing like what the final project will look like......this was a rough FLOORPLAN...Will have buildings, houses, fire trucks, police cars and a Hooters....well maybe not a hooters...I hope everyone understands that now!

All other attempts of this have abandoned their projects. Which means you are welcome to it.

EXCEL????

Post by cazmart »

I Created A grid...using border lines...

Then I made my city in a block style format....

Only did this to get my layout, attack routes, etc...

I know that sounds strange but it gives me an aerial type view of a city block...

I need to know what program to map with...

will check out thread...

This is the best attempt at this idea we've had.

There isn't a lot of room for a legend in this version though, unless you plan on making the map taller and placing it at the top or bottom.

Also, the excel 0s don't make a good substitute for army numbers atm, but they are okay for the rough idea of where they would be.

I believe Coleman is indicating that you need to replace the 0s with actual Army Circles (which have specific dimensions and need to be able to support numbers such as 888 without overlapping anything too egregiously).

Once again this rough draft.........

The final image will look diferent....

Block design is just the starting point...

The houses are actuall house, fire truck and police cars....etc.

Army circles are not always necessary unless your territory colors are conflicting with the army number color in some way. Many maps don't have them.

These might be useful for copy paste purposes if you want though:

this doesn't look like a city at all. looks like a scrabble board to me. to me it should look more like a real city...buildings...neighborhoods....highways...a rail system... suburbs...downtown....airport... etc. if i had the time i would love to work on something like this but alas i am too busy with grad school (city planning).

Dude he said like a bajillion times:This is a Rough Draft! Give him some time and he will have all of that. Chuck i really like the layout so far, maybe this inspires me to make one. Nice use of fire stations. Knowing you i thought you would have went all Halo 3 on us. keep up the great work.

That took forever to load and i think the map is a little to big. Try cutting out some stuff.

Thats just my 2cents
