Cashing in mid-turn

Post by ben.carbery »

How/when is it possible to cash-in mid-turn? I expected to get prompted after eliminating a player and winning four cards but nothing happened.

I see other games where the player is able to cash in mid-turn or so it appears from the game logs.

when you eliminate a player and get their cards if you have 5 or more you can cash in mid turn

Crud

Curious if Conquer Club has ever considered a 'no mid-turn cash in' option, to avoid steam rolling. In the game that I was in that just ended, 1003106, the game went from 5 players to OVER in one turn.

Clearly the guy who beat us deserves kudo's for his strategy. (The guy has won over 40% of his games! Pretty impressive.)

Still, if there was a way to avoid this, perhaps as an option of Bonus Cards rules, I can't help but think that there are players who would use it.

A lot.

Piestar,

This has been discussed in this thread. There was also another thread where something similar to your idea was rejected.

Your problem is with the way Escalating cards was designed. RISK (whilst having an amazing similarity but no actual ties to Conquer Club) does this as well - though there is a rule set where the number of mid-turn cashes is potentially limited to one less.

Actually, me and my friends played RISK every Friday for several years, and we found the no-steam-roll rule made for more enjoyable games.

The concept that the first person to take out a player will (almost always)win the game in one turn, is not really my cup of tea.

Mind you, I am not suggesting it as a RULE, obviously some people enjoy such a game.

It just seems like it might make for a fun option, a little more open then 'no cards' but not as free wheeling as the other options.
