Question

I have several friends of mine playing at work. It's really cramping our productivity, but that's another story.

Anyway, we've been playing Standard games, sequential amongst ourselves. We've even setup an inter-office tournament of sorts.

Well, one of my co-workers asked if me and another co-worker would like to join a Freestyle (no double) Triples game. I agreed. So, what we do is all get on a conference call and make our moves at the same time, coordinating everything.

My question: is there anything wrong (against the rules) with playing this way?

I would think that as long as everyone is in on what is going on you should be fine. Just to be safe I would suggest making it a private game so nobody stumbles into it unawares.

It was a game that someone else had made, and the first three slots were taken, so we took the last three. We were not even "in" on what was going on (we are all pretty new, and had never played triples before), so we just got on a call to discuss strats and we played out our turn.

I just wanted to post here to make sure there was nothing in the rules against this that I had missed.

If you three were a team and the other team was elsewhere then that would be a no no. I thought you meant that all six of you worked together and formed up teams for a game against each other.

If the former then I would think that very much falls under the secret alliance umbrela and would be frowned upon.

But, hey I'm no mod so these are just my thoughts.

But it's a triples game. I thought a triples game meant it was "3 on 3"? Does it not???

This would not break the rules. If the three of you are on a team in a triples game then you automaticlly have an alliance and don't have to announce it. This would be the same as three people chatting on IM about stragagy during their turn.

That's sort of what I thought, except our strategy talks take place over the phone, or via yelling over the cubicle walls... :wink:

That is perfectly acceptable, at least in my opinion. People use Instant messengers and other things to coordinate their attacks in a team game. The phone is no different.

I stand corrected. My thinking was flawed here. I've only played in two 'doubles' games and yes we were allowed to strategerize in private.
