i strongly disagree with this anything which attracts more players into the foundry is in my mind a positive step - thats why i think oaktown's thread is a great initiative.juventino wrote:another map thread.. i do think you all do a great job.. but keep them in the mapforum... i like being surprised with new maps and i trust you do a good job
yes. but i only think the players who want theiur say already found the mapforum and it is late for the rest of us to have our say when 90 percent of the map is done. But perhaps some new plkayers will start making maps and that would be good. We need some new cartmakers! (nothing bad upon the old ones, they are doing a great job, i just like to see some new people. Keep up the god job the old cartmakers)rebelman wrote:i strongly disagree with this anything which attracts more players into the foundry is in my mind a positive step - thats why i think oaktown's thread is a great initiative.juventino wrote:another map thread.. i do think you all do a great job.. but keep them in the mapforum... i like being surprised with new maps and i trust you do a good job
juventino...this is everyone's opportunity to know that this map is begin developed, and to to have their say....that is what most of the players who have bothered to comment so far in the foundry want....so they are getting it.juventino wrote:another map thread.. i do think you all do a great job.. but keep them in the mapforum... i like being surprised with new maps and i trust you do a good job

please keep it simple....
Btw, what's a Tourament?

The point is moot AK - there are plenty of "normal" maps coming out of the foundry...AK_iceman wrote:Check my games, I DONT play them. My point is that the old maps are much more enjoyable, and that someone should make more maps like them.
Someone should research it and compare the popularity between the old classic-style maps, and the new-fangled zillion bonus maps. I'd be willing to bet that the former wins.

Ak Iceman....thanks for your opinion...they are heard....AK_iceman wrote: Someone should research it and compare the popularity between the old classic-style maps, and the new-fangled zillion bonus maps. I'd be willing to bet that the former wins.

If you don't like them, then don't play them - if every map was a Classic clone then I would have been outta here long ago

I disagree actually - the plethora of bonuses means that there are more to go round... if on Classic you start well in Aus or SA - you're more than likely to go on and win - especially if everyone attacks amongst themselves...firstholliday wrote:Problem with all maps like this is; Because there are so many bonussus and rules, it ALL depends on the drop.
It's nothing to do with strategie or skill. Get a decent drop and start and you won the game.... look at p harbour.... the map looks nice and all, but you have same odds to win like flipping a coin.

I disagree - I have won games on Pearl Harbor where I have started with not a single plane.firstholliday wrote:Problem with all maps like this is; Because there are so many bonussus and rules, it ALL depends on the drop.

i love pearl harbor, but there really is no question that it can be decided by the drop with no chance of any strategy making a difference... that happens far less on classic map...benjikat wrote:I disagree - I have won games on Pearl Harbor where I have started with not a single plane.firstholliday wrote:Problem with all maps like this is; Because there are so many bonussus and rules, it ALL depends on the drop.

There is significant strategy involved in playing these maps - it's just that it is very different from what works on "classic" maps...

shit was badass
AAFitz...I have started on two occasions in PH where i had two aircraft bonuses, and a good drop on oil storage (5) and still lost the games. I have also seen others start with good aircraft bonuses but not be able to keep them because opponents removed their aircraft.AAFitz wrote:i love pearl harbor, but there really is no question that it can be decided by the drop with no chance of any strategy making a difference... that happens far less on classic map...benjikat wrote:I disagree - I have won games on Pearl Harbor where I have started with not a single plane.firstholliday wrote:Problem with all maps like this is; Because there are so many bonussus and rules, it ALL depends on the drop.

i do however like big maps, because it allows for a round or two of bad dice, and a chance for a solid strategy to prevail... not to say its always possible.. some drops are just unbeatable

cairnswk wrote:With these larger bonused maps it is not as simple, and that is why a lot of people don't like them...they haven't yet learned the layout coordination to win the map almost every time, and that is a threat their "empires". Afterall, this game and the rankings system is about empire building in a nutshell.
