I love how you only highlight the 50% that don't approve of FW. The other 50% of people either like FW, or just don't care for it. I go in their sometimes, but not all the time. I said it before, if you don't like FW, THEN DONT GO IN!!!!!PhatJoey wrote:As the poll reveals, half of the people who post feel that FW should go. Not be modified, reigned in, or "fixed". If that pisses the admins off, they should ask themselves why 50% feel that way. They should fix the problem, not give grief to those who are pointing out the problems to them.
That's like saying "The sun is too bright so gouge out my eyeballs." Doesn't make any sense.![]()
The admins serve the people who play here, and not the other way around.
Man, I'd hate to piss off the admins by bumping this thread.kalishnikov wrote:Flame Wars isn't going anywhere, just face that fact and let this thread die. The Mod Squad has spoken on the issue and compromises have been reached; it's over.
Bumping a dead thread will do nothing but piss off the admins, not furthering your cause at all.
Because it's very much like a Monks winky: it causes unnecessary excitement and it's going absolutely nowhere!alex_white101 wrote:why would it piss the admins off by posting in a perfectly valid thread about a way some people believe would improve the site, i think it would do the opposite to ''pissing them off''.
I see. It's okay for YOU to tell me what is right . . . just as long as I don't try to tell you what is right.kalishnikov wrote:Most of the anti-Flame Wars lot are nothing but moral crusaders with too much time on their hands and no real causes worth fighting for who's objectives don't run concurrent to their goals.
Getting rid of FW isn't gonna make CC more 'family-friendly,' it's just gonna spill the refuse to the rest of the forums.
Also, asking for FW to be removed is one step closer to handing control over to Big Brother and total censorship. Once you start limiting your own freedoms (regardless of whether you use them or not), they begin to limit themselves. The more control we hand over, the more the powers-that-be will try and take.
Even if you don't like FW you still shouldn't want to see it abolished, the ramifications speak far more then the actual loss of a single "not-family-friendly" forum. Censorship sucks, when you start saying "this needs to go, that needs to be abolished" eventually we are going to start losing our choices with no say in the matter.
PhatJoey, I understand what you are trying to do and why; but your moral compass has been dropped too many times and no longer tells you which is the right direction to start walking.
actually it does, altho it might not be wise to speak your mouth sometimes, you are allowed to, otherwise it wouldn't be free speech, it's as simple as that.PhatJoey wrote: Free Speech does not give you the right to say whatever you want.
Really? Is that why you will be detained and face charges for even mentioning a bomb anywhere near an airplane these days? Or what about it being a felony to threaten the life of the President? Or what about the FCC giving television networks 6 or 7 figure fines for profanity or nudity (Janet Jackson - Super Bowl Halftime)? Or what about the jailtime you will face if you yell "Fire" in a crowded building? Or what about . . . the list goes on and on. Simply put, you cannot say whatever you want when it is irresponsible and MIGHT cause harm to others. If a kid stumbles into FW by accident, you cannot say that it isn't harmful. And please don't use the same old tired argument that parents should pay more attention. There isn't enough time in the day and too many places for kids to get online without their parents around.zimmah wrote:actually it does, altho it might not be wise to speak your mouth sometimes, you are allowed to, otherwise it wouldn't be free speech, it's as simple as that.PhatJoey wrote: Free Speech does not give you the right to say whatever you want.
