As someone who is neither twelve, nor emo (not to mention, that you, in your vast musical knowledge, are just as misguiding as "emo" kids in calling them "emo"), nor [not] getting over a breakup, I have to say I enjoy Linkin Park. Their sound is crisp, and their musicians are talented. I have nothing against AC\DC, but seeing the comments above, all I can think of are a bunch of grumpy old men who can't stand to think that current trends in music are moving away from "the old days." It's not our fault you're stuck in the eighties. And of any time period, the eighties is not one I'd want to be stuck in...unriggable wrote:And dipshits who broke up with their girlfriends but will never fucking get over it.HayesA wrote:QFTdustn64 wrote:The people that voted LP obviously do not understand music. LP is for 12 year old emo kids, anyway.

::scoff at light head bangers:: Different genre. We can only compare overall talent, and you aren't being subjective. Any fan will key into the energy at a concert. I've been to a Linkin Park concert, and, as a fan, I was pumped up about it. As a fan of AC/DC (and metal in general), the same would happen to me at an AC\DC concert. Barbara Streisand would be the exact opposite of radiating energy to me, but her fans will tune into it. I don't accuse her of being a terrible musician, I just don't like her music. You're being narrow-minded in saying Linkin Park is less of a band just because their style is not to your taste.muy_thaiguy wrote:This needs to be said.Neoteny wrote:As someone who is neither twelve, nor emo (not to mention, that you, in your vast musical knowledge, are just as misguiding as "emo" kids in calling them "emo"), nor [not] getting over a breakup, I have to say I enjoy Linkin Park. Linkin Park is an average band that has come out with only a few good songs. AC/DC on the other hand, have been around since the mid 70s and are still playing concerts. They are a band that when you listen to their music, or watch a music video, or see them live, the energy that they radiate will rub off onto you.
Linkin Park, a couple of light head bangers, but no where close to that of AC/DC or any other 80s Hard Rock band.
By the way, I'm 18 and I was born in 1989.

Over all talent? In that case, AC/DC hands down. Also, as you seem to have skipped it, I never said I disliked LP, only said that they do not compare with AC/DC. LP is an alright, but not outstanding, band.Neoteny wrote:::scoff at light head bangers:: Different genre. We can only compare overall talent, and you aren't being subjective. Agree on all three statements. I mean, I don't mind AC/DC, I really like a few of their songs... i'll listen to them, but they're not my favorite. Linkin Park is just crap. Pure and simple...The Whostatic_ice wrote:or maybe an uncultured childunriggable wrote:But even then it takes a single digit IQ and some PCP to even consider LP as an option.jnd94 wrote:Aye, same here. You're so pleasant. The current classification of Linkin Park is nu metal. But whatever. The remark at them being a bad band was directed to the people insulting LP fans, so it might not be directed particularly at you, though this is wonderful.muy_thaiguy wrote:Over all talent? And since you insist on calling AC/DC metal, what would you classify LP as? Grunge? Not much difference, even in lyrics.
And if I sound older, then I guess that means you sound like a little 12 year old brat then. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen it either.
I might be whining like a brat, but at least I'm not a pretentious asshole. I'm glad you think that AC/DC is a better band based on overall talent. It's the first constructive contribution you've (as well as any other AC/DC fans, though admittedly LP fans haven't done any better) made to defending their stance on this thread. Congratulations, you are a trendsetter.muy_thaiguy wrote:The people that voted LP obviously do not understand music.

Hey! Another real contribution! Though I disagree with a lot of it, I will commend you for it. Shinoda talks a good bit in some of their songs about going against what the record label wanted and doing their own thing. Of course, that could just be a cover... either way, sure, they are "slaves" to the public, their success is based on the public opinion of them. But I would not say that their sound has stagnated by any means. If you listen to Hybrid Theory and then Minutes to Midnight, the style varies hugely, and this is even the case for Meteora. To each his own. I think they wrote all of their songs, but I wasn't there so I suppose I can't back that up. I'll take their word for it, just like I'll take AC/DC's word for it that they wrote their songs.HayesA wrote:When I say that LP is a crappy band, I mean that they are sell outs to the music industry. They are not artists; they are following a very normal template. This template dictates how they should act, how they should perform music, how they can make money, how they can release albums, and how they're suppose appear to the general public.
All of their music generally sounds the same, and does not entertain me in the least.
For the record, I am not "old", nor am I a grumpy person. I listen to metal, pop, alternative, experimental, and occasionally jazz just to name a few types of genres.
LP are slaves to the general public, and their label like most American bands.I have long since been in protest of such labels, and have refused to buy from them until they update their business model to meet the demands of not only my self, but the new generation of music fans.
Linkin Park is a fad, and are definitely not artists.
Napoleon Ier wrote:You people need to grow up to be honest.
It's been around for a little while. There is really some debate as to who is included in this, as well as the complete definition of the genre. Some people throw a couple Korn albums in there, some people include Disturbed, Tool is usually considered a large influence of nu metal.muy_thaiguy wrote:Not the first time.Neoteny wrote:Congratulations, you are a trendsetter.
"Nu metal," huh? That's the first I have heard that phrase, and I know some very avid LP fans that like all of this newer rock. Most of which, just plain sucks.
"Your so pleasant." Not sure if that was sarcasm or not.
