Some people in CC may have children or younger siblings, etc. and I don't think that allowing such language represents this site well...

For some, a lack of intelligence leads to abusive language and a complete disrespect for other members...

I do hope that CC brass issues some reasonable guidelines in the near future.

Flame Wars is like a comedy Central for me, it's funny non-sense and it is not this sites responsibility to keep kiddies from seeing swear words or what anybody thinks as is a issue of language...

I have kids, I watch my my kids do on the computer. It's the parents responsibility to know what there children are doing on a computer, and if a adult doesn't like what there children are doing, then they should not allow them on this site. Besides, This site is aimed for a certain age limit. not for little kids.

The internet is filled with much worse than Flame Wars! if you don't like any site, simply don't go there. No-body has to read flame wars if they don't want to... Nobody is saying if you pay to play you have to participate in any threads.

Parents need to be more responsible for there children, if they have a problem with the kids being exposed to adult attitude.

First of all... I didn't say to toss Flame Wars... I actually think it's good to have a place where people can vent, and waste as much of their time as they want...
If you read my post above, the one you responded to, you'd see that my issue was with opening up the CC Forum Index and the latest tread in Flame Wars, being "In cunts we trust..."
Personally, I couldn't care less what people say in Flame Wars, I never go there... But to go on in your reply about "parenting skills" etc. is way off base.
I suppose you'd suggest that I put blind folds on anyone whom I didn't want to view the latest trash in that thread, when the simplest solution would be to place some rules on what kind of language is allowed in the Subject line...

Just to be sure you get my point...
If I was going into Flame Wars, I'd expect to read all the nonsense, complete with all the language that invariably accompanies it.
BUT... I, and anyone else, should be able to open the Forum Index page without phrases like "In cunts we trust" glaring me, and anyone who happens to view my monitor at that moment, in the eyes.

If you don't get this than I don't know what else to tell you.
CC doesn't have minimum age restrictions, or really any restrictions on its membership, and I just think that the language could be reserved for the actual thread and not the subject line... It's called "respect".

I don't go into flame wars because it's silly.
"Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."

Duane: You know what they say about love and war.
Tim: Yes, one involves a lot of physical and psychological pain, and the other one's war.

Well put Elijah. That's really all we have been trying to do. They cannot seem to keep it there and it is constantly spreading. As you pointed out (and I have also previously) it's present the moment you enter the forums. You don't even have to look past the opening page to see it.

You are happy for him to repeat the expletive in General Discussion to prove your point.. where is your consistency?

oh come on Joey.. you can't answer an unanswerable question by saying my point was your point first .. that's plain silly.

i would like you to answer why you are happy to use such evil and unacceptable language in your pursuit of the absolute ban of said genre of language?

'and that's my point' is not quite satisfactory .. to me at least.

You are all for using the full gamut of the English language. Replacing lazy expletive with more acceptable and expressive alternatives, so please use your words not mine in the rebuttal of my conjecture.

First of all, I never said I was happy that he did that. You did. Therefore your conjecture is false.

Well put Elijah
seems to offer approval would you not say?

so i say again; how can you condone this language when it suits your purpose and utterly dismiss and poohoo it when it does not?

you appear to be at best disingenuous. .. sorry.

You know full well that any implied approval was for the idea behind what he was saying and not necessarily for how he said it.

I don't approve of it, which is why this thread exists.

You appear at best . . . to own a dictionary. Congratulations.

The truth is the truth. Quit trying to derail the thread.

And by the way, I did congratulate you on your vocabulary. Quit hanging around FW so much and maybe you won't see insults in every little comment.

no, you sniped Joey .. you resorted to the last bastion of those caught in a lie.

You attempted to deflect with with a facile insult.

the point is that you patted a poster on the back who used the very worst expletive. You did so because you sought to belittle Flame wars and you were reaching out to an ally.

This is far from off thread as you are using the very tool which you seek to confiscate.

you know this and it must truly burn your sense of moral self-righteousness. .. i could be wrong.

Nothing to justify. I did not use it. Someone else did. I never said I approved of it. You said I did. I said I approved of his comment, not the words he chose to deliver it. And after all, he was quoting something that was already outside of the FW and in the public view where it did not belong. Since you can't read my mind, you can't possibly know the truth and yet you feel free to call me a liar. Whatever. You need something else to do with your time.

Ok mate,
Much like the thread, our excellent chat has run its course.
I only sought to shed light on the contradiction of your concordance with someone regarding the terrible language visible via Flamewars..
The poster (you agreed with the post whole-heartedly; in tone and content) was taking the very language you so despise into the General Discussion forum and therefore to an even broader audience.

I don't think you are a liar; just someone who in the heat of debate, on a subject which he cares about with a passion, will bend the facts so to not lose the argument.

I think it is a sin which we can easily forgive.

As to my time; i have greatly enjoyed this part of the debate and would not have changed it for the world.

I am not, nor will I ever be, your "mate".

That's still illegal in most places even if I were so inclined.
