that still puzzles me. I have a theory about this. Maybe clive is scum and one of his scum partners is the double voter. The double voter voted for him however when clive claimed double voter and told them that the vote would be swapped the double voter swapped it to save clive. However clive could be a mason. But he would not have voted himself
I was just going to ask him again why he voted himself, but this caught my eye. That sounds like a very good theory. It's always possible for a doublevoter variant where they have to vote twice, and jumping on scum-buddies' bandwagons is always a popular tactic.

This is a case where a vigilante being killed early on is really bad as that would've been a great target for him. Very seldom is there a day cop although it's possible as I've used it before. I would suggest leaving both alone for now and hopefully one of them will turn up nightkilled eventually. Or else maybe MM can say who else he has investigated and if any of them turned up scum then we can test it on that player.

a) new player, who might consider the double voter role very important
b) the double voter, who
c) put the vote on himself by way of proving he is not the double voter.
