Here in good old South Africa, BEE and quota systems and other such crap screw white men and women over in so many ways. (The same goes for coloureds and Indians, although to a lesser degree.)

(I'm not interested in debating BEE and other crap, as far as I'm concerned it benefits the fat cats at the top only for the most and doesn't help those who actually need help the most.)

Now, south africa is the best example of predjudice. A country that needs to adopt "blacks only" jobs within a hugely majority black country tells the outsider (like myself) alot about not only the country, but also a little about genetics.

And that justifies reverse-discrimination?

BEE = Black Economic Empowerment. A scheme that basically boils down to black people being immensely favoured for job XYZ or position XYZ or 3x times the wage a white/Indian/coloured man would earn doing the exact same job.

Only the rich black people benefit from it though, while those in the townships and squatter camps still generally remain in a shitty position.

not sure if you were mocking me, or reiterating my outlook that white people are being taken advantage of now that they have admitted they've done a few things the wrong way...

would you rather i hhave said i think Affirmative action is a joke in the US, that the media takes it too far, so far as demanding that there be affirmitive action in sports? that i thinkthe welfare system is a joke, and that if I, a single, white, working male were to look to the state of federal gov't for assistance, i would be laughed out of the building, but a minority with 3 kids and has to only work 20hrs a quarter gets cash, food stamps, housing, and transportation stipend?

i could have said all that, but i didnt, because it is a raw deal....i prefer to approach it cynically...considering now i am being punished for the actions of past whites, most of these things my ancestors did not participate in(no slavery, rich, nobility, warlords, military in my family) while i watch the minorities in my country get every oppertunity handed to them for struggles 95% of them never faced, but feel theey are entitled to because thir grandparents did...

slaves were freed, equality was assured for a while, through affimative action and welfare, and grants...now its time to relevel the playing field a little, and make everyones oppertunity the same, by removing all the equality laws...survival of the fittest....better than taking up the ass cuz of the sins of someone else's father....

The way I look at it is that if you arn't homeless and starving then you've got it pretty good. That goes for all races. The fact that people complain about bills not being paid, lovers doing them wrong, working conditions not being satisfactory, and etc. is completely ridiculos.

People, just take a minute out of your busy life and think about how good you have it and how bad it could be. This applies to everyone who reads this because if you have a computer then your probably not that bad off.

If two people of different races each have their own house and each have an income in the United States then their both doing pretty damn good in my book.

In America I do believe straight white males get a bit of a raw deal in a few sectors.

First, affirmative action. It's crap, disallowing whites jobs they're well qualified for and giving them to minorities with less attention paid to actual qualification.
Best man for the job should be the law of the land, regardless of skin color.

Second, in society. Whites are supposed to feel guilty about being white but blacks and hispanics are supposed to feel empowered. It essentially boils down to "It's not our fault that we're minorities, but it's your fault that you're white." For example a black man can deride white people all he wants, but if a similar joke were used by a white man about black people, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be at this man's doorstep and he'd be getting death threats at all hours of the night.

I have to agree here. Some of the Southern States are being pressured (and some have caved in) to apologizing for slavery when it ended 150 years ago. I think it is time to move on from those kind of things. Truth be told, I could care less what skin color, ethnicity, or religion people are, I base people off of who they are, not what. That is focusing on the individual, there. People should get jobs for their qualifications, not whatever makes them a minority or whatever. I also know a few people that would be "minority persons" but they are quite against affirmitive action, and they and their families have been quite successful, as have others.
