If they put you in charge...

If you were given the power to change something (note, this is not fantasy power, so no 'world peace' wishes, the change has to be something that could be accomplished realistically and without changing basic human nature) what changes would you make.

Rule 1: the change does not have to be important, it can involve anything from sports, movies, and entertainment to important social issues to environmental concerns and anything inbetween.

Rule 2: the change has to be able to be accomplished via current technology and without supernatural means (in other words, we can't make the terrorists stop hating us, and we can't make everyone a millionaire).

other than that, you can change anything to any degree that you want.

EXAMPLEs:

Sports. I think that it should be illegal for professional sports to offer money to college students under scholarship until either that student has a degree, or 4 years of enrollment in college are complete OR the college withdraws the scholarship (possibily at the request of the student). If the NFL wants 'farm teams', they should not be co-opting NCAA sports with money to get it. So my change for 2008 would be to prevent professional sports from tempting college students to leave their studies by making offers to play sports professionally illegal to an enrolled and scholarshiped athlete.

I'd begin by pulling out of Iraq and declaring it a disaster zone. I'd install more social programs, declare prohibition, and I'm thinking of more things to do...

assuming this would be possible, i would require developed nations to hit the prescribed targets of the un development goals. This would also figure in the extra addtional amount for the countries who have yet to reach the prescribed goals to hit the amounts suggested in the timeperiod alloted. Should countries fail to do this i would at least have them forgive foreign debt.

I would begin committing genocide and declare mandatory testing for STDs. I would legalize prostitution after the STD people were dead and lower the age of consent to when you get your first period. Pornography will be distributed by the government. I would also limit CO2 emmisions as well as starting more space programs.

Yeah... you can't technically outlaw communism. Complete removal of communism would result in the removal of the lottery, social security, welfare, free/reduced lunch program, medicare/medicaid, and the child healthcare programs. Thanks a lot, poor sick children are going to die. Poor children will starve. Old people will become poor. I rely on the free/reduced and the medicare.

Since you are the leader of the world, I'm assuming there is only one government. If there is only one government (breaking off and forming a communistic state would already be illegal), enforcing this would mean purging your government which is quite evil and Stalinist effectively making yourself a hypocrite. Make it Mandatory to pass an IQ test, a Current Events test and a General History test to earn the right to cast an electoral vote. And i'm talking basic stuff here like:

-How many sides in a Pentagon

-being able to locate Iraq on map.

-name 3 ex-presidents before Reagan

legalize marijuana, lower the drinking age to 18, enforce stricter drunk driving laws, create laws reducing the maximum salary for professional athletes/other performers to less than 1 million a year, increase manditory spending for schools, sex education, driving education, police officers, national parks, nuke china and india for overpopulation reasons, secretly assasinate kim jong il, declare a "genocidal" hunt for those with aids which would eventually kill off the disease, and then get a woman whom i care deeply about and settle down for the rest of my days.
