You can start with travel. Detroit is located in the Eastern Time Zone, and in the Eastern half of the country. The miles flown will be much fewer for the Red Wings being located in the East. Continue looking at travel, and you'll reach the "leaving the time zone" argument. It is easier to travel within your time zone than it is to fly across several. You look at the Wings in the playoffs, and they are frequently traveling to the west coast. That amount of travel takes it's toll on a team. You don't think Pittsburgh has it easier when they have to travel to, say, Buffalo, New York, then Philly, as opposed to Detroit flying to Vancouver, Phoenix then Anaheim?

Also, it's more natural for the Wings to be in the east. The majority of their traditional rivals are in the east. I'd explain further, but I have to go to work. Bye for now!

Bollocks.

I have no problem with Detroit being in the east, but the lopsided conferences bother me.

This is my biggest complaint. I also feel that this sets the league up for inevitable expansion, which I feel will be done geographically, meaning new teams in Seattle or Portland, and possibly Kansas City, Salt Lake City, or another Western Conference city.

Bollocks.

I'm okay with Seattle and Kansas City as long as Florida is moved to Quebec at some point.

That would be alright. Seattle especially. They seem to have great sports fans. Quebec could support an NHL team (better than Florida, at least).

I'm certain southern Ontario could support another team, no problem.

I could get behind a Seattle franchise for sure. I'd want to add another Canadian franchise as well, with Quebec being the most natural. To do that though, I feel a team would have to relocate. Otherwise, they'd have to ship either Detroit or Columbus back west again. I also agree that southern Ontario would be a great spot, but I don't believe the NHL will ever support that, as ownership in Toronto and Buffalo (and possibly even Detroit, depending on location) would throw a fit about losing fans/money.

I wonder if the NHL would consider Las Vegas?

Bollocks.

Worst way to start the season. 5 million people watching Perros break his neck.

I hope they don't do Vegas. Though talk is they are eying it up.

I have been loving this back-to-back for the Leafs in Alberta.
Last night, when the Leafs won 4-0, every time the Leafs scored you realized it was a sea of blue in the stands. Tonight all I heard was `go leafs go`. Gotta love the team that only every plays home games.

God dammit, I just want Malkin and Neal to be healthy together for a full year. That's all I ever asked for.

And Crosby's just beastly.

I was there. It was awesome!

This is what it looked like atfter the shortie near the end of the 1st. (if you look closely, you can see my lovely wife, in this picture.)

"Go Leafs go!" was definitely the chant of the night.

Comment: I'm happy with predicting the draw in Was-FLO and that Islanders beat Boston. If I only would've followed my instinct and made San Jose-Phoenix a draw like I originally intended I would've gotten 9/13. Changed it at the last second.

I want to trade Buffalo to the Metropolitan Division for Pittsburg. I`ll settle for the Caps. Who do I call to arrange this mid-season realignment?

Yeah, cause the Metro division isn't weak enough already...

Why do you want the best team in the league in your division?
