I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but I have found many highly ranked players to be the most arrogant, pompous individuals on Conquerclub. They are the ones that use the ignore list and refuse to take players off it. They have to have their own way in a game. They call other people degrading things. Has anybody found the same pattern among players with high rankings? It's disappointing, because I wish that the skilled players would at least have the decency to be good people.

Thats an interesting theory to be sure but, if his sole purpose for being here is to pretend to be stupid and rile people up, the joke's really on him. Considering he's played 5x as many games and made 2x as many posts as I have, that means he's put a whole lot of work into not caring about winning or losing and spent a whole lot of time and energy goading people like me into wasting a whole lot of time and energy.

Maybe this all started on account of me huh Whump? Whump sent me a PM the other day requesting, well, not exactly, telling me to take him off my foe list. Of course, I didn't reply and I believe he received his answer. Like I said Whump, you will be on the foe list for a long long time. I don't play with convicted cheaters, period! This thread proves my point. High ranked players are jerks. Now if anyone would like to prove me wrong, I would be up for a singles game sometime or even invite me into a multiplayer game. If you don't want to lose a lot of points to my bad ranking, I understand. There are some people on this site with a modecrum of decency, but they seem to be few and far between among the high ranked players. I will say this though- warnsteiner is not an ass and is actually a class act.

I try and ignore the people that only want to spew out negativity, but it still doesn't change the fact that they exist and post on this site. It's just a disappointing scenario, because I don't know how many times I have offered someone a game and they say "get fucked" or something along those lines. A little bit of human decency doesn't hurt you know.

As for the person that said I was just getting people riled up, well l'm not. I don't take ranking seriously, but I was up to 1800 points at one point before I got stuck playing too many singles speed games at one time. 1800 is pretty damn good considering non of the high-ranked egoheads would play me. Flame wars is flame wars. And the multi was created to play more games.

So as I was saying, I'm up for a friendly game with anyone- heck even the not high-ranked players. I only inform the community of the sad high-ranked player personalities because they consistently prove to be jackasses. Sorry for flaming outside of flame wars.

As a chess player I know that some high-ranked players are quite happy to help those "below" them in rank. No arrogance in them.

I've had the very same experience here at CC. Good people here many in many cases wear hardware or hats.

You bring up a very good point that people in general can be arrogant. It is very possible I am overutilizing the availability heuristic. Just because I can think of a few highly ranked players with bad attitudes does not mean the majority of them are jerks, or that all people with low ranks are nice. There are many talented players who are also nice guys: warnsteiner, owenshooter is a good guy with a decent rank, TheProwler, Paddy the Cat, Bladin and TheBro himself. To them I've gotta say keep it up and continue to set a good tone for this site!

The only high ranking players I've fought against have been genuinely nice. They probably put people on their ignore list because they've found a group of other players who they trust won't quit.

The only really nasty situations I've encountered so far is when people make alliances. When someone even suggests one the other players usually turn from being nice to really upset. Rank seems to have nothing to do with it.

Which makes me wonder if there could be a way to block alliances on the game setttings. Probably not but just thinking out loud.

I consider "high-rank" as Colonel and up, and I think, for the most part, there's no general difference between their attitudes and those of lower ranks. (-I've been known to go off a few times in games too.)
Also, I used to bitch about the ranking players only playing in private games, but recent allainces and bullshit in some of my own games has me now thinking that it's a good idea to play only against those players you know to have a degree of integrity.

Of course, there will always be the Johnnyrockets who continually draw attention to their amazing feats in CC, but, without them and the vast array of different braggers, bitchers, moaners, etc., CC would become a pretty dull site.
