Personality of high ranked players

I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but I have found many highly ranked players to be the most arrogant, pompous individuals on Conquerclub. They are the ones that use the ignore list and refuse to take players off it. They have to have their own way in a game. They call other people degrading things. Has anybody found the same pattern among players with high rankings? It's disappointing, because I wish that the skilled players would at least have the decency to be good people.

I can't help but think the timing of this post has something to do with what I just wrote.

For starters, while I hover between page 1 and 2, I hardly include myself among the "elite" players on this site.

None the less, if your post has anything to do with my comments in the cooks posting thread, you're freaking way off base.

Both of my posts did nothing more than refute claims made by lower ranked players. One that dismissed those with higher ranks as essentially not playing the game for fun, the other that said rank is meaningless. It might not be what you want to hear, but maybe, just maybe, players stuck in the lowest ranks are simply not that good. I mean, in that respect, it is not unlike every single other game with winners and losers.

Perhaps the PC stance is that we're all just as good as each other and that some just have low ranks for inexplainable reasons. Perhaps those with low ranks just get bad rolls every single time. Perhaps those with low ranks just happen to always be the guy who's next to the guy who goes suicidal for no reason.

I can buy that for a stretch of 10-20 games. However, after 100 or more, things level out and if you're still looking at the wrong side of 1000, you might want to look in the mirror as opposed to making up stupid reasons why others have managed to increase in rank and you haven't.

This is no more arrogant a stance than a basketball coach telling me that he doesn't need a 5'9" slowish guy with short arms and can't jump or shoot very well.

Seriously, how many posts have you started complaining about "unfair" things about this game. Things that every other player also has to contend with and has managed to figure out how to plan around. That's like complaining about how the knights are allowed to move in chess. Yours move just like mine. Deal with and figure out how to use them in a manner that earns you victory.

I'm sorry if I'm not willing to let somebody say completely false things just so I'll avoid making it look like I'm talking down to him. In all honestly, I don't go around launching unprovoked insults at players because of their rank. I'm just not going to sit back and let somebody make unsubstantiated statements about those of us in the higher ranks.

I'm just answering your question. The reason you in particular are on a lot of ignore lists and take a lot of abuse from higher-ranked players is that you act like an ass in the forums, not because high-ranked players are so arrogant that they won't deign to play you. It's that simple.
