I know you did this to "punish" Owen, or show him who is boss, but really as I stated before, the intent should be looked at, not the actual usage. There is personal info all over this forum...hell I have SEEN Obama's birth certificate on this forum. Why don't you reword your rule, to actually encompass what you are trying to accomplish? Otherwise, every quote, every topic about politics, religion, music, and sports would have to dissappear. I don't think that is what you originally intended, so I ask you to take this suggestion under consideration.

I took it exactly as far as Owen asked me to. He wanted a ridiculous interpretation of the rule, so he got it, and everything that went with it.

Again, you're taking the rule too far. The wording of the rule (in 2 places in the community guidelines) is this:

Don't ever post personal information of other users. Anywhere. Ever. Even if they already posted it somewhere else. This includes posting personal information about a CC user on another site, you will be held accountable here.

# Attacking a person instead of the user is NOT ok - it's all fun and games until it becomes personal.

* Using a person's real information, picture, address, blog or anything else "personal" is NOT ok.

Both places it refers to the personal information of people who are users on this site. If you are quoting, reposting or otherwise using content that was created by a user, then that's fine - it does not link back to the person using that account and the two lives can be kept separate. However, if you post anything about the person who controls that user, that implicitly or explicitly links a real person to a fictitious user, then you have crossed a line.

Obama's birth certificate doesn't fall under this rule because, sadly, Obama doesn't have an account here (that I know of). The two people in LFAW's sig are, probably, not users here, and even if they are, that image is completely anonymous.

I'd argue that Owen's "photo" is not even personal info because it would be virtually impossible to identify owen in a crowd from that image because it has been manipulated so far and has no reference point on the site with which to link it to an actual photograph of him - but then, would Owen really have accepted that as an acceptable outcome? No, because he didn't accept it when Gip changed his avatar, he still wanted the ban.

The rule is very clearly stated, and intended, to prevent users from posting any content, with or without permission, that could link a user to a person. Every person who uses this site has the right to be in direct control of their own information at all times, as soon as it is in the hands of another person, it is out of their direct control.

The signature is temperary until we figure out what we want to do. I dont think we should have to change it because of the beef between Owen, Dagip, and Twill. This whole thing should be figured out between them. There are plenty of other innocent people posting personal information, who havent received ban's yet, and won't. I don't see why this rule only applies to the Bandits.

heres my common sense:
the first time around Gip used the image to flame owen.
second time around to troll owen.
we used the image to identify ourselves with each other as a clan.
i'd say the first two reasons are blatantly banworthy... the last one not. DaGip was intentionally trying to piss off owen, and owen was fighting back. You know just as well as i do that DaGip is not a first offender, just like owen or mustard, and that trolling owen by using his pic is absolutely a bannable offense. Had O said "trolling" instead of "using personal information" we could have avoided this fiasco eh?

had one of your mods simply stated, his last ban was for "flaming outside of flamewars" by writing "cock sucker" on your image, not for using your image, it would have been settled. but neither of the two i dealt with knew that info. i don't blame them, perhaps that wasn't put in my ban record or on my wrap sheet or whatever. i truly thought he was guilty of the same infraction, as i perceived it. i had no idea he wasn't banned for using my image, but for the "cock sucker" scrawled on it.

i have nothing against the CC mods or admins, and my questions were very clear and based within the written rules i found on the site. once king achilles told me he was going to look into it, and get a clarification of the rule, i was satisfied. and i even told him regardless of the outcome, thanks for your time. wow, a civil discourse with a mod is now spamming him up. ok... that also makes sense. go ahead and make us change our sig, it doesn't matter, it will be a continual reminder of what you did to a bunch of innocent clan members because their leader dared to ask a very civil and well thought out, question. you are still my favorite, and i'm sure we'll laugh about this at another time, but you need to clarify the personal info rules. forcing an entire clan to change a sig, that is not against the rules i have sighted above, is ridiculous. see you on skype!!! the black jesus has spoken...-0

Also, you dont ask for a rule clarification , you ask for him to be banned for doing what various other users have done in the past. Either ban 'em all or ban none. he was banned for flaming me by using my image... the image was removed. he RETURNED FROM HIS BAN and put my image back up with a sarcastic "free owen" on it. he was then warned after i asked about it, and removed it. i found it odd that he was previously banned, returned and committed the same offense for a mere warning. i just wanted a clarification. i don't think anyone understands that this is two seperate instances, even twill...-0
