CC should ban players who are rude in Game Chat. Or maybe develop a system so people can choose: Verbally Abusive Game On/Off.

It is inconsistent. CC got rid of Flame Wars because of the profanity, etc.. At least, that's what they say. So why would they allow it in Game Chat? That makes no sense. In Flame Wars, it announced to you before you even went in that it was a rude and vulgar place (not in those words). Users had a warning and could decide if they wanted to expose themselves to that type of discussion. But in games, there is no warning. There is no way for users to decide what their opponents (and even teammates) will say and when it is unappreciated vulgarity, it is too late.

You have to read Game Chat because it might be important for the game. You didn't have to visit Flame Wars.

Really CC, it would be nice to get an explanation for the inconsistent philosophies that you are using with the shutting down of Flame Wars versus the allowance of flaming-type Game Chat.

Suck it Up Cupcake has to be the CC All Time Greatest "insult".

Oh, Prowler has some good points.

Hey Korda... you're a little bi@$*h.
just kidding... but seriously, you want me to change your diaper?
just kidding... but seriously, you want me to finish your hamburger?
A brilliant example of an adult response if I've ever seen one.
You're on thin ice here beckytheblondie. Not only did you self-censor your own expletive but you were also only mildly condescending. I honestly don't know how you sleep at night.
Which certainly doesn't make it an adult response in any way.

Sorry, but this should be moved to fl....

never mind, carry on. Now we all have to put up with this juvenility, whereas before it could be left to those ridiculous people who frequented FW. What if my children read this thread, think of the damage it could do to them???

Prowler makes an excellent point about chat. Maybe we could remove it and just have a system of check boxes like we did for feedback. It could go:

Tick one or more of the following:

How about a truce <insert player name>?
Attack <insert player name> now, everyone!!
That was jolly mean <insert player name>. I sure am ticked off with you now.
gg
gg all
gg thanks
gg <insert player name>
well played
you bastard why'd you do that?

No room for problems, insults, etc. A clean, friendly place where everyone is happy all the time. A utopian paradise in the year of our Ford 101!

Did you read the previous 10 posts? How many were about curbing insulting of other players? Where does that stuff belong? Either in FW or not at all. If I had a child right now they'd be asking about weiners and openings. It sickens me. Move it to an out of the way place where immature people can laugh at that stuff.

Anyway, wasn't my post just hilarious? And besides, it's quite a good idea. Easy to moderate, safe for users. What are the drawbacks, george?

Brilliant.....some of the stuff here is brilliant.

I speacially enjoy..."suck it up cupcake"...

Thanx all forthe response. Im not agaist taunting and a bit of trash talk. Being a bad loser or winner is something you get rated on. I just think that harrassing people shouldn't be allowed.

All for flame wars or whatever its called. I understand the impulse some kids have to insult others online. Some of the insults you can recieve online can be very amusing.

Do you really understand? Let's test that, shall we?

Please explain the impulse some kids have to insult others online.

Is it because people who are on the verge of being an idiot use words like "amusing" to make themselves appear intelligent, and other users get perturbed by their transparent act?

To any moderator that is thinking about jumping to any conclusions here....please don't make assumptions. If you have any questions about my meaning in this post, please just ask. I am not trying to insult anyone in particular.

Well...true I don't really understand what Flame Wars is (first time i read it it sounded like some thing gay, no in uderstand it's not). You're a computer programmer so I would imagine you are over 18. I'm twice that, and I'm not a programmer or in IT, but still like to pay games alot.

I currently employ 1000 kids between the ages of 18 and 26, after mid 20s the need to speak disrespectfuly to each other starts to drop. Many of them will say things in a chat they wouldn't dare say to anyone face to face. So they choose to vent online.

I just think that unless everyone is clear that its just for fun....people start to take it personally. I do have a kid who plays online and he reads some very nasty things he shouldn't be exposed to just for playing a game.

Now it does amuse me that you feel that people who use the word "amusing" are idiots (or on the verge of) trying to be intelligent. I amuse myself on how intellegent I sound when I say it. I actually wake up each morning and say "amusing" in the mirror a couple of times just to get me going.

I hope I dont make your foe list for being almost an idiot. And if Flame Wars is reinstated I will probably try it.

P

I understood it was not an insult. Thanx for responding to my post. It keeps getting better.

Flame Wars on this site had evolved into being just for fun. I kept a good eye out for people that might be getting upset and I sent PM's to them to keep things in perspective. You should be a more responsible parent and shield your kid from the harmful things on the Internet.

I'm 31 and i still feel the urge to insult people. Like if I were to say, "korda's gay" it would still be amusing. (Btw, my use of the word amusing was not meant to perturb prowler). Anyway, korda's gay.

Good luck, korda1... I stopped playing on this site over this very thing. I realized over a long period of time, mods wouldn't step in and try to inhibit the nastiness with even mild warnings; instead, I got harassed for complaining about the stuff I was seeing (sometimes by mods).

"Use foelist" and "Use ignore" was always the response. Until I got so fed up and angry about it that I began retorting - not even as nastily as what I was seeing - and then I got warned along with the instigators. Only, when the instigators continued, STILL nothing was done - the warnings weren't acted on.

So, like I said, good luck.
