I've been wondering...

Is there a limit on the length of the map name on the map list? I mean, ideally, I'd like the "Age of steam" part be included in the map names of this map pack, so that they will be next to each other in the map list, but will this make the map names too long?

If you can't you could just put "AoS" before the name.

        • Beta - Quenching
---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Orient Express Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!
            • Image

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
  • 1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuances or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. Please update the Map Information Portal with details of your map
    3. Finally, it is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

I will update the portal when I know what name the map is entered with.

Ideally I'd like the Age of steam -part be included in the map name but if this makes it too long then Orient Express will do...

congrats, great to see this one live!

minor thing, not sure if it's important or mentioned before.
The name "Age of Steam" is a product of Eagle Games and so I think, protected with copyright,
not sure if you can use it like this. It could be. :geek:

congrats anyway

Well, glad you like the map.

As for Croatia, I don't want to argue with you about the name of your country ;) but what about this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatia-Slavonia

it says the country was called "Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia" during 1868-1918 which includes the time of this map.

I'm starting to think the objective may be a bit too hard... Has anyone succeeded in winning by the objective yet?

How would people feel about making the objective a bit easier:

Hold both termini + any 4 orient express stations (6 territories instead of the current 8 )?

Transsib?? I think you are getting a little confused.

As for your question I can't rightfully say because I haven't finished a game yet. Though I will say that I think an Objective Should be hard. If you're worried that'll just be easier to win the old fashion way, I think you're probably still fine. I'll let you know if I find it to be too hard later... or maybe I'll just end up losing all the games I'm in :?

I think you obviously misquoted me. ;)

Objective should be hard yes, but not so hard that people won't even bother trying to use it. IMO.

I definitely agree with that, I'm inclined to say that it isn't, but I've yet to acquire the experience to verify my opinion :geek:

This map is really really chokeable and I wonder if the rail lines should not be made less hard to get around

There are just some major blocking points.

Now I've only played a few 1 v 1 games, but it just seems like there are separate areas of contest that all get sorted out individually and it makes for some very boring game play.

The biggest example of this is the Paris/Burgundy area. feel free to completely dismiss my thoughts, but so far I only find this map aggrivating and in general, natty, I'm a fan!
I'm a sucker for Assassin Games

My claim to fame..... Game 6311393

Thanks for your feedback Hops... I have to be honest with you, this map was never meant to be a good 1v1 map... It was never designed for 1v1 games (although I did add the neutrals to make the drops fair on 1v1:s.) So I would appreciate it if you would try out some multiplayer games on the map, like 4-6 player dubs for example... then if you still feel the same about the map, I'll be glad to take whatever advice you have to improve it. ;)

Still yet to finish a game on this map, but that's a good thing. I like maps that promote long games. Really liking the flow of this one. Good flow.
