Finished Rounds
All games are played one at a time so Freemiums are welcome to join.
1st & 2nd round are both standard - these rounds determine who makes the teams. 6 players make the team, but...
3rd & 4th round are triples - for the Olympic games and medal rounds. 3 players at a time, cycling through the 6 total.
Tryouts - Round 1 begins with 32 players, divided by country into 8 Standard games of 4 players each.
Choose from USA Great Lakes, USA New England, Vancouver, Montreal, Soviet Union, or Iceland*.
*I've chosen Iceland to represent Sweden & Finland as a Scandinavian collective. Likewise, Russia represents itself, as well as Ukraine & the Czech Republic.
Escalating
Tryouts - Round 2
The winners of Round 1 will advance to face each other head-to-head shootout for the honor of coaching their countries hockey team in Standard 1v1 games (best of 3) on that country's map (USA, Canada, Soviet Union or Iceland). The other 24 players play in a Standard game of 6 players each on their country map to determine eligibility. Escalating
The winner of the head-to-head games is the Coach for that country. The runner-up is the Captain for that country.
The winner of the 6 player game is that country's MVP. These three form the starting lineup for that country.
The Coach then chooses 2 additional players from their country and the Captain chooses 1 to fill out the Bench.
The Olympic Games - Round Robin
Once the teams are formed, each country faces each other in a round robin Triples format.
Each "game" is 3-4 periods long and 3 goals wins the game.
1st period - Country A's home map (1 goal)
2nd period - Country B's home map (1 goal)
3rd period - Vancouver map (2 goals)
OT - Classic map (1 goal)
The Coach may choose either Escalating (Offense) or Nuclear (Defense) Spoils for their home map only. Teams may request to change their "gameplan" before the period.
After each "period", the first person on either team to be eliminated from that period is Benched and a player currently on the bench (starting with Coach's #1 pick) joins the starting lineup. This process continues after each period - cycling through players on the bench in order. The Coach cannot be benched unless he/she is eliminated first in 3 periods. Whenever the Coach is benched, the Captain takes over coaching responsibilities.
The two teams with the best records after 3 will face each other in the Gold/Silver Medal game. The remaining two teams face off in the Bronze Medal game.
Medal Games follow the same period structure as before, but it takes 4 goals to win. The current coach for each team will be able to choose their starting lineup for the 1st period.
