Looking for a budding young helper!

Post by gimil »

I don't know how many of you will remember me since it has been a while since I logged into the forums here at ConquerClub. I have been back a couple of days and now I am looking to make a start on my 8th map! Before I begin however I am looking for a partner (as is the norm with my maps) to help me with my fresh idea.

I am looking for someone who is:
- competent with current array of XML that is on offer
- can brainstorm and exchange ideas in terms of gameplay.
- able to offer constructive criticism of graphics is welcome but not essential.

For anyone that is interested in working with me on my new idea just pop a post in this thread.

:D

Good to see you back, gimil. I like your maps.

I myself am quite busy with my own projects, otherwise I would be thrilled to work with you on a map. Perhaps some day... ;)

I'm down for brainstorming and constructive crits... actually, just post some ideas in the Melting Pot, it doesn't matter whether or not you intend to take them far or not.

And I'm glad to see you're gonna make a new map.

Oh, sweet, it's Gimil. Well, there's no dearth of new talent in the Foundry right now if that's what you want. They're probably not too versed in XML, though if you've got any questions, just ask.

The only real change in XML is that you can use continents for objectives now...

I've seen your name on some maps and in map threads... really a tragedy about the Mars map, I liked that one.

Anyway, I think you might find more takers if you clarified what you meant about "competent with current array of XML that is on offer". Do you mean familiar with it, or able to code it?

Also, if there was a hint about the map idea, people might be attracted to help based on that. You wouldn't have to be explicit, but a general category. For instance, I'd be instantly interested in any historical map, especially political or military. I'm also very partial to 'fun' or 'story' maps (like the stuff Evil D throws out there, or the one I'm muddling through myself). Not so much the puzzle maps, or simple geography maps.

This means able to code all any XML. My biggest weakness in this foundry is coding my own XML.

I also have an air of secrecy about for this idea :P. Only the person I will be working with will get to know what the idea is.

It's not very hard these days, with the XML wizard...

Just because something becomes easier doesn't spot it being an unenjoyable weakness ;)

Well, if you've still found no one I'm willing to help, since I'm taking my time on Gallic Wars and most of my other ideas seem to have stalled.

Thank DIMwit but I think I may have already found someone. Although I may have to head hunt you in a future venture. I already have my mind on something you could be useful for ;).
