Does that 40% include Ron Paul supporters who indirectly voted for Obama by voting for Ron Paul or other third party conservative candidates? If not, then that percentage would be closer to 50% as hard core Ron Paul supporters took away about 20% of the vote from the Republicans...Phatscotty wrote:over 40% of whites voted for Obama. answer is NO

um, in order to vote for Ron Paul, you had to write his name in. I dont know how many write ins he got, but it probably was not that many. Ron Paul was not on any ballot.CreepersWiener wrote:Does that 40% include Ron Paul supporters who indirectly voted for Obama by voting for Ron Paul or other third party conservative candidates? I did lump them all together with the write ins and the actual candidates. Ron Paul urged his supporters to vote for Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. I am sure they took a good chunk of the Republican vote. But whether or not it was 20%, I don't know. All I know is that from my state primary, Ron Paul took 23% and in some counties it was over fifty....for Ron Paul or other third party conservative candidates...

PS if you were of a visible minority and you saw someone of your race that had the possibility of becoming the next president of the US wouldn't you vote for them too?Phatscotty wrote:over 40% of whites voted for Obama. answer is NO

You are missing my point. I am saying that a large percentage of Ron Paul supporters refused to vote Republican and therefor, indirectly helped Obama become POTUS. Yes, voting for Republicans in a primary doesn't hurt democrat votes, but it is a good indication of how far Republicans are split. And if the majority of Ron Paul supporters were strong in their convictions, they would have voted for Ron Paul's endorsement or just wrote Ron Paul in, thusly wasting a Republican vote and helping the Obama campaign.Phatscotty wrote:a republican primary between republicans does not cost any democrats any votes in a federal election 8-14 months before the elections (ie, the date of the primaries)

I see your point. A lot of people did plug their nose and vote Mccain though, and many more voted against Obama plain and simple. This time, the roles are reversed. The Ron paul supporters have the republican party and the country clubbers, the checker panters, and the log cabin republicans are going to have to set up a coalition.CreepersWiener wrote:You are missing my point. In my hometown, Obama flew into our small airport and was having a town meeting and the public was invited and offered free tickets. I went to get free tickets and the Obama campaign told me that there were no more left...but, if I went out door to door to campaign for Obama, they could sneak me in.
I walked out of their office.

Thanks for the well wishes. I am flattered to have a troll of your capabilities notice
Basically, you're saying people should vote for the candidate that they don't want.CreepersWiener wrote:Does that 40% include Ron Paul supporters who indirectly voted for Obama by voting for Ron Paul or other third party conservative candidates? It's really stupid to vote for someone because of their physical features, regardless of their actual qualifications.notyou2 wrote:PS if you were of a visible minority and you saw someone of your race that had the possibility of becoming the next president of the US wouldn't you vote for them too?Phatscotty wrote:over 40% of whites voted for Obama. answer is NO

What if you were a woman and saw that a woman could be the first female president of the US? I expect if this were the case well over 50% of female votes would have been for the female presidential candidate.
What if the candidate had cerebral palsy? I expect the percentage of people with cerebral palsy voting for the cerebral palsy candidate would be over 80%.
What does this all mean?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The real issue here is that black voters love the black half of Obama more than white voters love the white half of him.Phatscotty wrote:over 40% of whites voted for Obama. answer is NO
