Suggestions: New Forum Emoticons

Post by Jesse, Bad Boy »

Suggestion Idea: Add new Emoticons for the forum boards.

Specifics: Emoticons can be collected from almost everywhere, and are manually uploaded from your computer to the phpBB forum permanently. I have a wide collection from my various tenures on other forums, so I could lend a hand in setting up new emoticons. It should take no more then a half hour to add almost 100 emoticons to an emoticon list.

Why it is needed: I think it would be aesthetically pleasing (as well as lend more of a social atmosphere) if you were to update the emoticon list. While it's not really much of an emergency, it would be nice to see a little more flavor when I choose to flame the troll of the week, hit on the cutie who just posted a hot picture, or play one of the many spam games. Moreover, emoticons often serve as a quantifier when trying to set an overall tone on forums, and I am sure we can all agree that tone can be hard to understand when reading with little context.

Priority: 1

Can I get an amen?

I just think that there are more important things than new emoticons (I rarely use the ones we have. I would just like to have lack focus on more important things right now.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

Perhaps to you, but when I am waiting 24+ hours to take my turn on multiple games I spend my time on the forums. Simply because you do not use them does not mean that we shouldn't look to add more, because myself and others DO use them.

Moreover, while I am not suggesting that emoticons take precedence over other issues of more pressing concern, it is not something that should just be swept aside because there are "more important things".

Sure. Image, Image, Image, Image, and Image. I do have some more, if you give me time to look for them.

I think we already have a decent amount....and most of the ones you just posted don't fit with any of the others.

PS- you know about the 'view more emoticons' button, right?

Yeah, we added some new emoticons awhile back and I don't think we need any more for a long time.

Adding more doesn't hurt. It would be nice, but its not urgent.

Emoticons don't really need uniformity, as they are as I mentioned only social tools and tone quantifiers.

And yes, I did know about the additional emoticons, but doesn't hurt to add more.
Yeah, we added some new emoticons awhile back and I don't think we need any more for a long time.
So? I don't understand the immediate relevance of what you're stating. We just added some, therefore we don't need more? No offense, but I would hardly call that sound reasoning.

This has nothing to do with LUE. Leave your biases somewhere else.

Why?

Essentially, that is all I have seen so far. Frankly, I would hardly call that a legitimate reason as to why we cannot have emoticons.

Bump.

I'd like a reply from those that are of the mind that we don't need emoticons.

How is emoticon's not being needed not a legitimate reason to not needing more?

Because it's circular logic.

We have emoticons, therefore we don't need any more emoticons. We don't need anymore emoticons, because we have emoticons.

I would rate this a .005 priority.

Edit: 0 being the lowest possible rating.

0 Being the lowest right? Cause some people would consider a priority 1 high.

We don't need more emoticons. They're already overused.

I haven't used any of the new emoticons because I'm too lazy to click view more emoticons. Naturally I'm not against this but I'm not for it either.. Maybe if lack has nothing else to do he can take the 30 minutes. But I'd rather he took the spare 30 minutes he got to work on the 2 month over due update.
