How are the dice unfair?

Post by xenowolff »

I've noticed that, in the general board, there are alot of trolls questioning the fairness of the dice. they all complain about huge bad streaks, about losing large numbers of troops to several (in some cases less that three) defenders, and they are upset about it.

^ that is backstory. here is my question:

if everyone has these huge bad streaks, how is it unfair? that means that everyone is doing just as bad as everyone else. Am i right? im seriously concerned with the mental state of the people posting about bad dice if they dont relize that, if they get them, so does everyone else.

being a purely optomistic person, i dont see bad streaks as, well, bad. i see it as part of the game. but thats just me. i love playing CC because i enjoy the strategy and comradery that comes from good games. i hope someone can enlighten me on this.

I am half tempted to either lock this or move this. However, I guess I won’t. So much force cannot be withstood by a single mortal man like me....
All hail wisdom!

Fairness is only part of the issue. Another is having a fun game to play.

@Darkened Blade- ha! i wish.

@ woodruff- im sorry, i enjoy the game far too much to leave. i will, however do my best to contain myself, if that is acceptable to everyone?

@SirSebstar- thank you for not locking it or moving it. i honestly did hope for answers, maybe even some mutual understanding, i swear.

@metsfanmax- agreed :)

i just feel that, if its a game, play as a game. if we where in real life fighting real wars on these maps (which, i admit, would be interesting) it would be one thing. but its all for fun in my view :) i cant wait till i can afford a premium membership so i can help everyone who works so hard on this game out. :)

here can be no strategy with luck... he who thinks there is.... is just lucky... play the odds but a super general no, pure and simple lucky yep...

Dice in this game suck as 27 vs 3 shouldn't lose but it does therefore we win through luck...

but couldnt the same thing be said about lacking luck? if you lose 27 to three troops, you could say your foe was lucky, or that you where unlucky. it bends both ways. as some of my friends would say, 'as the wheel weaves'.

i, personally, dont believe in 'luck.' i believe in karma. someone who is at the pinnacle of strength falls, not because he is unlucky, but because he spent all his karma getting to the top with none to sustain him. the same could be true of scores in this game. i think that, once you get to the top, you can do two things; if your strong enough, you stay there. otherwise, you start to fall again. each player has a ceiling to their strength.

i just lost sixty troops to twelve in a real life game a few days ago, so i can honestly say it happens in real life. (id like to note that that didnt discurage me and i placed second in that 8-man game) so the games dice on here, IMO, are really acuate at depicting randomness. these games are so fun. i wish i could share how much i enjoy it with everyone else.

so you're saying you never win a single dice roll ever? yes, you are going to lose. yes, you are going to lose stupidly easy attacks. the point remains however that you will eventually win against insurmountable odds. there are times i lose a whole stack of 20 to 5 troops, then there are times i take out a stack of 40 with 15. if you are entirely pessimistic then you will only see the bad rolls.

as the old saying goes you cant see the forest for the trees.

id like to note that this is what merriam webster has to say about random, or as i like to put it, MODNAR:

ran-dom (adj): lacking a definite plan, purpose, or pattern.

sometimes seeming patterns do appear in random things, these however are not true patterns. they are simply likenesses that come and go at a relatively same time. i think the people are wishing to confuse the term 'random' with the term 'uniform'

uni-form (adj): having the same form, manner, or degree: not varying or variable.

the dice in this game are never even close to uniform, if the dice rolls where 'more balanced' or more uniform and less 'semi-random' (as the dice in fact, it seems, are here) the chance part of this game would get thrown out the window. this is a game of chance and should be treated as such. if you lose, play again and try to win. if you win, play again and try to get a streak of wins. that makes far more sense than tryin to modify one of the core rules of the game. and this core rule is printed where? its not. its 'dont load the dice' a pretty straightforward rule that all dice games follow.

on another note, the word of the day is abrogate, which means: 1: to abolish by authoritative action : annul 2: to treat as nonexistent.

hope everyone enjoys the insight =)
