location flag

Post by siberiancygnus »

I am Irish and live in Scotland and have a bloody union jack flag in my profile . I am sorry if i offend any brits but i dont want it . Frankly its not on . Hows about a little flexibility webby. (if my father saw it he would disown me) . I dont care if I can't get an Irish tricolour , but at the very least i should be able to get a Scottish saltire , and i am sure that many Scots , Welsh and Northern Irish would agree with me. :(

Well if that is the case I want a Quebequois flag not a Canadian maple leaf, since Quebec is a nation now.
Come on, it is an online game. The flag simply recognizes your IP range and assigns it based on your log-in location. When I logged in from the USA on holiday it gave me an American flag. That would normally piss off a Canadian, but really, it isn't like someone stuck a flag on my shirt and forced me in public.
Socio-political strife is a bit overboard to worry about for a simple online game profile don't you think.

It says you're from....
Hawkhead, Renfrewshire, United Kingdom

Are you close to that?

Don't forget all those Texans living in California wanting a blue flag with single gold star.

I get an Irish flag when I sign in from work, and a Union Jack when I sign in from home, just around the corner :?

I'm not really fussed, but it just seems a bit odd

yeah i know a lot of mickey taking is imminent . I dont want to open a political can of worms but the union jack flag is seriously offensive to some irish people.

Iceman , I am in renfrewshire , sure , and it is in britain , but can i not just hide the location flag if i cant change it ?

Your country is determined automatically by looking up your IP address in a GeoIP database. It isn't meant to reflect your nationality. Furthermore, the database is only 99% accurate so some members may show an incorrect location. Unfortunately there is no way to override your country flag.

If you really want your true patriotism to show, just put a nice big flag as your avatar instead.
