This thread doesn't seem to be going anywhere constructive. In an attempt to get it back on track let me pitch a thought.

Personally I have experienced how many map makers have had a problem with the way the numbers of CC are coloured. That said though their is always a way through it. I don't know how huge an issue it really is to warrant a change, but then again, how difficult is it to change the HEX number of colour for the sake of a possible easy life?

The thing is, the way the numbers are coloured, does not take at all in account the relative differences in perceived brightness of red, green & blue channels. The yellow numbers are ffff00, which my the most common way of calculating luminosity amounts to 90%, while 0000ff (or blue) only amounts to 10% luminosity.

Increasing the brightness of the blue numbers to at least 50% luminosity would be good, I can't see any downsides at all to it, it's a win-win situation... and it would make the life of mapmakers easier - it's stupid that we have to watch out for too dark backgrounds and whatnot only because of that one colour. All the other numbers would work fine even against black... but not blue.

I say something borderline that is a bit out-of-character and I get reamed for it. People that consistently do so (that is "in-character" for them) seem to get more slack. I just decided to *sigh* and move on, as I expect posting something like this won't do much, but there you go.

If you want my opinion on the matter, I think it's a bit silly. Changing the color of the blue could have its own negative effects, potentially on previously-made maps that have already done tweaks so that the blue numbers would be readable. I don't see why it's such a big deal to keep doing that. There are multiple solutions and it doesn't by any means limit creativity in the design aspect of maps.

That's a load of crap.

Changing the blue numbers would not "have its negative effects" because the other numbers are already brighter than the blue numbers currently, and maps need to be able to show those as well. Furthermore, all the numbers have a black stroke, so making the fill colour bright is only sensible - it creates contrast and makes the numbers visible. Having a dark colour number with a dark stroke is a bad design choice and should be fixed.

Also, there are no "tweaks" being used to make blue numbers visible. What is being done is simply limiting the graphics of maps so that the places where numbers go aren't too dark, only to keep blue numbers visible. On maps that don't do this (eg. conquer man) blue numbers are notoriously hard to see.

Making the blue numbers the same level of luminosity as the other numbers would remove problems from existing maps, and allow more freedom to mapmakers on future maps. There's no downside to it at all, and plenty of upsides. Frankly, your condescending, belittling attitude towards this problem shows narrowminded and shortsighted thinking.

This is also untrue. I'm only responding to critique in my own thread. Victor doesn't seem to want to engage in polite discourse, despite attempts on my behalf. That's ok, since no one is forcing him to post here.

The purpose of this thread was to call attention to the suggestion on the suggestions forum. Everyone who supports the cause of lightening the blue army numbers, please show your support in the appropriate place, ie. the suggestions thread. Everyone else... gfy.
