Basically, sometimes you get lucky drops. When it happens to your opponent, it's terrible. When it happens to you, it's fantastic! That's the nature of things: take the good with the bad, and in the long run the good luck and the bad luck will more or less balance out.
Unless you're one of the people that the Universe has consigned to be Statistical Outliers, in which case nobody can save you...
