Politics: Where do you stand?

Post by Guilty_Biscuit »

Where do you stand? Left/Right, Authoritarian/Libertarian? Are your views closest to Ghandi, Stalin, Bush or someone else? Take this TEST and post your results here in bold.

My results were:

Economic Left/Right: -2.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.15

I'll compile the results for the average CCer in this top thread.

The 'average' CCer:

Economic Left/Right: -2.32
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.73

CC Comunity so far:

that puts me almost exactly on the x axis, hence i am not authoritarian and slightly to the left of the y axis. this puts me toward the left wing. i wasnt very surprised at this, as i beleive free markets are the way to go, however they are shockingly abused by westerners at the moment. put simply the western/rich world are completely exploiting poor countries in every way possible. even aid, which is ''given freely'' seems to be disgustingly tied to poor countries opening up there markets so these well established firms from rich people can come and make profits. anyways thanks for the link guilty! was very interesting!

Basically, people should have the right to do whatever they want provided it doesn't infringe on others rights + free market capitalism.

Sounds about right to me. Great website btw 8)

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

im practically on the origin of the graph =s however these obviosly give over simplified results, as i am very left wing about some things and right wing about others, clearly they cancel each other out, but i would give more weight to some policies than others, so realistically i think i would be considderably to the right of the origin most probably still on the x axis.

As I said before
There's nothing wrong with communism, it's the leaders of the country with Communism that's wrong.

i personally think communism can never be expected to work, nor can capitilism...... we just have to find a happy medium, i dont think we have achieved it yet. but the world seems to be turning towards protecionism now so i dont think it will be long before we swing towards communism again, just a watered down version

Protectionism is complete and utter stupidity any way you look at it. I don't understand how the lefties can support it and at the same time criticise wealthy states for not giving enough aid to the third world.

EDIT: lol at my single yellow dot on the entire right hand side of the graph

whats funny is that were so far apart yet this is pretty much my view on things, not sure on how well free market would pan out.

protectionism is most definately NOT stupid, it is in some cases, such as the USA protecting its cotton producers and the EU protecting its famers. but poor countries NEED protectionist measures in order to help there infant industries otherwise they will never be allowed to develop enough to be able to compete with rich country firms. however they cant do this due to the ''aid'' they recieve with all the tied conditions which force them to open up sections of there market which should be able to develop for at least 5/6 years.

Protectionism means inefficiency and it's as simple as that. As soon as you say that some countries can have protectionist policies then everybody will want them and that's the situation we're in now.

whats funny is that were so far apart yet this is pretty much my view on things, not sure on how well free market would pan out.

It's probably because of the wording of some questions. For example, one question said something about globalism and should it favour multinationals or individuals. Now that's not the sort of question you can answer with just an 'agree' or 'disagree'.

what you say IS the case in rich countries i agree, but certainly not in developing countries, these ''sunset'' industries NEED protecting in order to gain the economies of scale to give them the slightest chance of competing with well established companies from rich countries

Communism ( i.e. an entirely state-planned economy) on the graph would be top left, all those in the bottom left are leaning towards anarchism (ie liberal socialism), so there you are Guiscard a liberal socialist.
