Just got one today for being a semi-finalist.
No idea what the event was. No mention in the email or on my profile.

I agree, its a pain to see these days.

Go to medals & stats on the left.
Click on the achievements tab up top and you should be able to see.

Got the same, also had to look for it to find out.
Would be nice if the email contained the event indeed.

You can see further details when you click on the Achievements tab like what Donelladan has shown above. Next time, I'll try to include the link to the event when you check on the Achievements tab.
