rejected idea folders & continuous poll for repeated ide

Post by PLAYER57832 »

I find it very hard to weed through all the suggestions. How about combining like topics into folders, such as "missed turns", "newcomers", etc. You could begin each with your explanation(if appropriate) of why a particular suggestion has been rejected (technical, voted unpopular, etc), then all the various variations and discussions could follow. I think this would cut back on repeats and perhaps lead to more really NEW ideas. In some cases, where topics keep re-emerging, you might have an on-going poll so folks can at least feel they have a voice, without taking up forum space. (an example might be this turn multiplier issue) . Also, it could be that if an idea is suggested over and over and over there might be something in there needing resolution, even if not any way already suggested. If that is the case, you might open a specific folder/discussion thread specifically asking for ideas to resolve that particular problem. That would limit the discussion to that thread (more or less) and then, if rejected again, provide a full and complete analysis of why the idea was rejected (and increase likelihood that topic will be truly dropped).

Extending off this idea, I think the major recurring ideas should be stickied. Skip Turn buttons, for example, pops up a lot. Sticky the thread.

And we can see that it works marvelously since the threads keep popping up.

Having 10 or so stickies would not be much better though...

It's a post that is made by the admins or mods that stays at the top of the list of topics. :-)

Stickys aside, I like the original idea of subfolders. The you could sticky the folders, and move all like minded (or lack there of) posts in the same place.

I do have a half-way suggestion of my own, not worthy of it's own thread, but perhaps the to-do list (and not gonna do list) should be more prominently available, for example, a link from the Instructions page.

Sure, there will always be those who miss it, but the more available, the better.

We are looking into ways to better this forum. But sometimes users got to meet us half way! :)

The difference is to have a poll with the sticky. That way folks are more likely to feel they are "heard" if their opinion differs from Lack's.

Also, as I said before, it will help highlight times when perhaps an issue SHOULD be re-visited, particularly in light of new boards/options, etc. Again, I'm not suggesting this is a democracy, but we are customers.
