Do you judge players on one game?

Recently I got a lovely addition to my wall saying that my strategy is nonexistent, that I suck at CC, etc. etc. The person who left said Wall post had only completed one game with me (on a map I stink at). So my question to everyone else is: do you judge other people on one or two games? Or do you refuse to make judgments at all?

it depends on the errors made and the game type.

If it's a terminator game and you make it easier for someone else to eliminate a player, I'll probably put you on ignore (even if it helps me mind you. Next time it might hurt me).

If it's an escalating game and you make it easier for someone to take out a player (including me obv), I'll probably put you on ignore. EG: I have one territory in australia that only red and green can attack. green takes out that territory and then it allows blue to turn in a set and eliminate me elsewhere winning the game. (very extreme simple example but it's usually the extreme cases where I'll 'judge' aka ignore someone)

I will also occasionally make a sarcastic remark, a general comment, or a friendly suggestion. EG: I don't understand why you'd make it easier for someone to eliminate yellow but ok (this will result in me getting a 1 star rating in attitude).



If you make a mistake on a very complex map, that'll be forgiven.

If you make a mistake and we talk about it in chat, and you realize the error, that'll be forgiven.



I'd prefer to play with players that don't make those really silly mistakes.

I can make a judgment on behavior and respect of others. But as far as strategy goes, no I can't judge that off of one game. I will make notes if someone makes rash moves if someone attacks them and I'll use that against them at a later time.

I usually don't leave any feedback until after a couple of games unless (a) the game was truly amazing, (b) they were truly tools.

Yes I do leave ratings after the first game and if you play stupid then I figure that you just stink... So yeah I do after one game... but that's all anyone needs to tell, considering your a private, if I played you and you made a lot of mistakes I'd prolly give you average ratings and just think to myself that you really stink... But if you got better and I played you again then I'd change my mind right away... I say one game is plenty to tell how someone plays... Now, under circumstances where my opponent is really good but the dice REALLY hate him then if I can see they just lost due to the dice I don't make any judgements...

First, anyone leaving a wall posting like that is probably worthy of ignoring (oops --- foeing, though I felt the term "ignore" more accurate). Beyond that, I don't rate skill. I find that the overwhelming majority (a few exceptions, but not many) who put huge stock in that are not the best players themselves and, generally, are just plain bad sports -- the kind who would rather attack someone else than criticize their own play/actions.

Next, to answer your question, I give an OVERALL rating unless I have only played one game. Initially, I give a "base" or "tentative" rating based on the one game. Usually it will be a 4 or 5 for attitude, unless you are a grouch. Usually a 5 for attendance unless you miss turns or such. If you say nothing, I tend to leave attitude blank. BUT, if I play a few games, I will adjust accordingly. Almost always, that means an increase.

Also, I am more forgiving of the "small stuff" -- be it a missed turn or two or a grouchy episode, if I have played several wonderful games with someone. I judge OVERALL performance, not single game performance.

It's hard not to judge them from one game because when they screw it up you get angry so easily and quickly that you instantly think that he/she is a n00b. I try not to do that and it works for me most of the time.
