Trench Warfare!

Post by mibi »

I am just letting you all know that as I was driving along the highway while on vacation I came up with the best idea for a map. Supermax is also the product of highway driving.

Trench warfare has been tried before with poor results, but the system I have developed is genius. It beautifully simulates the buildup, stalemate, desperation, and eventual annailation that is trench warefare. I have it mostly mapped out on a hotel note pad but will put it together officially when i return from vacation.

Who wants to do the XML? The only xml feature that needs to go though first is conditional xml.

This map is going to be great, kind of like Arms Race but for the slow methodical 30+ rounds type player.

If people want i can try to explain it verbally, but i wont be able to put any images together for a week or so.

I just looked at Tacks and his idea is a lot different than mine. His is pretty complicated. Mine is simpler and focuses more or the strategy of strench warfar and trying to simulate the feelings and emotions involved with it. If tack wants to continue his he should, as i think there will be enough of a difference between to the two to support both map. But i will be continueing this project the next available chance i get.

I would prefer you change the title, as my next project after finishing Periodic Madness will be Trench Warfare. I'm all in favor of WWI maps hitting the mainstream in a big way, as the sheer brutality of that war is something that I'm surprised hasn't been replicated yet. My map is going to be more complicated, and will require one tweak to the XML (constantly killing killer neutrals, as opposed to on holding player's turn) to make it happen, so let's hope Lack gets it in gear and adds that option. :D

Well my version is less about ww2 and more about the dynamics of TW. I can't really think of a better name at the moment but will be open to suggestions once the map is in development.

I just tried to type up what the idea was all about but it just didn't translate well, where as it would take 20 seconds to get and visualize where there is a draft up.

so y'all can wait until then.

i usually try to get the passanger to take dictation. or just think about it so much its stuck in my head. I have really considered every detail of this map over the course of a 4 hour strentch of road. I have even fielded all the criticism possible and countered it with tweaks in the game play.

so given that this map has already been through the foundry in my head, maybe we can fast track it so it gets quenched with the latest maps.

i promise, its going to be golden.
