I can't get my head around that one at all. Either from the suicider's point of view, or the people encouraging him.
"They thought it was some sort of joke"? What would be amusing about it if it were faked?

Many people are sick assholes who don't care about others...especially strangers that they gain nothing from.

You should have seen Flame Wars less than a year ago...certain people suggested other people kill themselves on a regular basis. Not in a joking way. It would be directed towards people that were obviously quite upset.

The admin here did a good job and cleaned-up this kind of disgusting behaviour. When I see it, I report it immediately.

I really do find it surprising. Maybe I'm just naive, but I've always assumed that people were kind and caring at heart.

I would hope some just didn't understand the severity of the situation or thought it was being faked or exaggerated.
