For the record, I smoke cigars not only because I enjoy the flavor, but because they make me look really cool. I couldn't imagine a round of golf with out smoking a cigar. One gains a certain je ne se quois when one smokes. But, as a scholarly man, I am curious as to what the people think; that is why I started this poll. What is your opinion on this great habit?
P.S. Ladies, there is nothing more sexy than a woman smoking a cigar.
Edit: This question pertains to tobacco smoking. Either cigarettes or cigars. I am aware that there are other ways to enjoy tobacco. However, pipe smoking is a question for another day.

I started smoking a pipe recently. I've found that it warms you up when you're outside in this weather and aids in thought. I'll have to quit though as my health insurance will automatically jump by 12% if I have to register as a smoker.
I don't have to be a square to disagree with the inhaling of ignited tobacco. I work in a hospital and I'm confronted with the consequences of substance abuse every time I go to work. Yes I do group smoking in with the other illegal recreational drugs that one might care to purchase and ingest in some fashion.
The real difference between tobacco on the one hand and all the other illicit recreational drugs on the other is:
Tax
Because it is a source of revenue for public spending smoking has been permitted for years on end even though the dangers of smoking are well documented. If tobacco were subjected to a modern day food and drug test screen to check for dangerous side-effects in users, it would be an epic fail!

Cigarettes ruin the flavour of practically anything, be it food, wine, beer, liqueur, whiskey or cognac. And as has been said already, they stink.
Cigars are ok, though, and pipe doesn't smell too bad either. It's been years since I last smoked however, I just never developed a taste for it.

Smoking is definitely cool. That said, I'm proud to be 4 months clean, after 10 years as a smoker, and hope I can continue to be smoke-free (tobacco) for the rest of my life.
As I said in a similar thread, it cooled my Nanna. Dead cold. But not before it ruined her circulation so badly that she had to have both legs amputated.

Sorry, I'm being square.
That's unfortunate. Most of us are aware of the dangers of smoking nowadays, fortunately. I've lost a couple loved ones due to smoking-related conditions, and it's a nasty thing to see. But they made their decisions as far as that goes, and I do as well. I rarely smoke anything, but I've learned that it is enjoyable in moderation.
Smoking is bad for you kids, so don't be stupid about it.

Lost my grandad and a great uncle to lung cancer (both were heavy smokers). And the smell of cigarettes has always been one of those things that turned me away from smoking, and cigars, though they smelled better, still bring up the painful memories of seeing my relatives sick with lung cancer (pipes too). So, call me a square.
Oh come on! How much tobacco do you think those people in those pictures consumed each day? Everything in moderation people!
A pint and a smoke go to together like peas and carrots. Enjoying a cigar at the birth of your son or your monthly golf game or when you graduate college will not kill you... as much as they want you to think.

Yes, I know. But should such an occasion arise, I may, but otherwise I won't.

Those people were Cigarette smokers for 10-20 years. True a Cigar now & then won't kill you, I smoke a cigar 3-4 times a year.
But Cigars & Cigarettes are really Apples=Oranges anyway. You can't really compare the occasional Cigar to a pack a day smoker.
