Hello! Is Labour in one of those dreams again? What about all the indigenous people that are loosing their jobs to the recession in the first place! If this plan goes ahead the BNP will start to gain more power because the majority will feel like they are being persecuted by the government, whether that actually is true or not is debaitalbe, Look at Germany's Nazi Party, they started off small but because of the economic problems Germany faced they eventually became Germany's biggest and only party, i would hate that to happen to Britain but i'm afraid it will due to decisions by Gordon Brown, Ok i understand Tony Blair left him in a bad starting position taking office but with decisisions LIKE THIS by his cabinet he might aswell change the Labour parties name into "Lets help the BNP" party because that is the way it is going now, even the BNP are getting kicks off Gordon Browns bad decisions.
On another note I think in the near future it could be the Liberal Democrats and the BNP's Chance in the sun...... History repeating itself.

I was actually responding to it as daft because it could encourage more racism and a increase in BNP power, of which we don't need.
Encourage racism? The proposition is racist in and of itself. Such legislation or even the suggestion of it can only be expected to stir racial tensions.

The problem is that Brooksie posts provocative headlines without reading, or perhaps not understanding, the article in full. You seem to have fallen into the same trap as there is no mention ( or indeed question ) of any legislation, neither are there any particular race implications. What was said was that certain minorities had suffered disproportionately during previous recessions and that steps should be taken to address this in future, nothing terribly exciting or provocative. Ethnic minorities were mentioned as also were the disabled, women and the elderly but guess which group Brooksie chose to single out....
There is nothing there likely to stir racial tension or inflame anybody other than those with an existing agenda , if one is determined to find racism everywhere then no doubt they will

Uhh.... I just chose to go with what the headline said, because it is sensible to talk about what the main topic was about..... Ethnic minorities acording to the thread, if racial tensions were ever to pur out on the streets it would likely be along the lines of "The straw that broke the camel's back".
