Vietnam

Post by randomperson31 »

I thought that maybe someone could make a Vietnam Map or a Vietnam War Map. I cannot do it, because I don't have the skills nor the technology to make a map. I have this photo to inspire anyone who wants to make one.
I don't know much rules, but i would accept suggestions. Thank you. :)

ah yes, another vietnam idea.

there have been a few concerns raised in prior attempts at this map, and i'll put them out there for you to think about.

-if you're doing standard gameplay, how different is vietnam gonna be from indochina?
-based on what you have in the picture, there is not enough space for names or army circles
-the vietnam war could be a touchy subject, so you'd have to tread very carefully while working on that project
-vietnam is just kinda asking to be bottlenecked... you know?

and i think thats it, but they are all very valid concerns and would have to be thought out before proceeding

if WWII and Pearl Harbor are acceptable themes for a CC map I don't think anyone would be sensitive to a map based on the Vietnam war...

maybe you could design the map so that all US terr. lose 5 armies per turn...so it would be more realistic

Well, Indochina is a map where there is not a war, But this map is a war map (like the Europe Map and the WWII Europe Map).
Also, I am not very familiar with Vietnam, but the provinces could be gathered and named in a way that represent the closest big city as a province (like Boston representing Mass.), so there would be space for the name and the army circle.
I agree with Barry that it is not a touchy subject.
Also, there would be Carriers and bases that can launch aircraft from the South and the North.

The main problem with vietnam is the fact that it is just a bottleneck. Nothing else, just a bottleneck. You'd need to find away around the problem, probably using a network of ships all along the coast.

Hmmm. What if a winning condition was to have certain territories that all added up to be the tet offensive?

Perhaps there could be the ho chi minh trail or something that connects a few territories together that are far apart making it less of a bottle neck.

Okay, I know this thread is from a while back. I just found it in a search as I really love the idea of a Vietnam map. How about including Laos and Cambodia? We could keep the vague aesthetic of the conflict but without it actually being a war map.
