Now why didn't I think of this one  A very good concept here, just make sure it is historically accurate (as much as possible). First thing that jumped out are the territory names. You're going to have to change them. Arcadia- if I remember my Canadian history right - is actually Acadia. Ontario and Quebec weren't called that then. Either were Missouri and the other non-colony states.

Here's a link to some info on one of the wars:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_and_Indian_War

Other than these things right now, I'm looking forward to your next update!

isaiah40,

First let me thank you for your valuable insights. =D> =D> =D>

Arcadia was my mistake (my in-laws stayed in a town called Arcadia, FL). I read it as Arcadia instead of Acadia.

I found this map of Britain's view of the New World (circa 1750). As you can see (not very clearly) all of the colonial states (including the Canadian ones) are there.

I know that what is present day Maine belonged to Massachusetts at the time, but unless you can give me a clear cut case for why I should have SMA (South Massachusetts) and N MASS (North Massachusetts) vs. MASS (Massachusetts) and MAINE, then I will keep it the way it is. Everything else is under review.

- The objectives are based upon research I did in both Wikipedia and other online resources.
- The tribe locations are solely from Wikipedia (as is the basis of the map :) ).
- I doing research for the region area name changes and adding army location spots.

I will post again soon.

You sure you wanna go with those colours? It just doesn't seem to fit the specific time period...

Otherwise it's a really nice idea.

Thanks for the encouragement. The French flag at the time was white with little fleur-de-leurs on it (CLEARLY not an option  ). I found another map color scheme that might fit.

Let me know what you think.

Well I see 5 bonuses on that map so far. Acadia, Canada, Louisiana Upper Country, North Louisiana, Lower Louisiana all French. Then you would have bonuses for the Native Americans, the British Colonies, we are talking upwards of what 15 bonuses. I like it, I like it! It would work out.

I think what hatchman means that the color scheme of the map don't necessarily go with the colors in 1750 era.

I'm having a hard time picking out the objectives though. Be sure to make em easier to spot.

This map might be of great help to you then, no color, but much clearer than the period map you have already posted.

Choose the colors you think are best, you really can't use white, but I don't think it's a bad thing to choose a blue color for the French. Most history books choose blue since it offsets red so well, which is usually the color assigned to the British... Green like in the map you got from Wikipedia would be a good choice too

You've got a good start here, lots of work to put in though, looking forward to your updates. :)

Thank you hatchman, jefjef and RedBaron0 for your valuable input. =D> =D> =D>

jefjef, I have been thinking the scope was too large and narrowing it to just the northeast where the battles historically took place. That way I can make it so the objectives are clearer and not blocked by the armies that are placed over them.

RedBaron0, thank you tremendously for the additional information on British settlement, fort and Indian tribe information. I will use (steal ) that information for my next version.

hatchman, your request requires a little more research. That is why I haven't got back to you right away.

Cheers

I'm thinking colours like this:

You know, "antique" colours.

Now I see what you are talking about. :)

Thanks for your input, I will see if I can work these "antique" colours into my map.

Cheers.

Excellent idea! I think its a great start but I have a few crits for you.

The colored indian territories... they're a bit hard to find and I think a player without BOB will have an exceedingly difficult time trying to figure it out.

The squares and circles are tough to read as well.

I also think you could do with about 15 more territories.

Looking forward to seeing this map develop and definitely towards playing it!

Industrial Helix,

My BOB-orientedness interfered with my map-making. Differentiating the indian territories to make them easier to pick out is a good catch. =D> Thank you!

Several people have pointed to the objectives being hard to identify, so that is one that I will definitely work on.

Like I said before, I think the scope (field) of battle is to large. I am going to cut the map down to the Northeast where most of the battles historic took place. This will allow me space for names, army placement, objectives and tribes.

I am glad that you look forward to the development and finally playing it.

[Moved]

It would appear that development of this map has stalled. If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the Foundry Moderators will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made. ;-)

Yes, I have been busy playing all the maps to see how their interface works vs. my interface would work.
