Synigma [closed]

Post by I_am_DOOZY »

Accused:
Synigma

The accused are suspected of:
Other: Cheating the system by use of deferred troops

Game number(s):
4433846

Comments: Before commenting on the accused, I feel it necessary to give a little background info on this game. This was involved in the site hiccup on April 18th (http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 4#p1965134) which resulted in a sequential game having 2 green lights. This made it possible for one player to not take their turn for potentially days without being noted as missing turns, even if they don't play for 2 or 3 rounds. And though they might be skipped in rounds, they still are awarded all the deferred troops due.

For some reason, this game was never deleted or edited when other games were. We have continued and had a very entertaining game, possibly because of the 2 green lights. But now it is down to 3 players, and, though I've been eliminated, I'm still keeping tabs on it since it has been such an interesting game.

I have no complaints about this game from while I was playing, not even the glitch caused by the site hiccup from April. But I'm now seeing a player intentionally not playing and stocking up on deferred troops. Synigma (blue) last played on round 290 (Oct 3rd). The game is at present time on round 298, and this player is due 21 deferred troops, which would give him more troops than either remaining opponent. If this game would be operating like normal, he would have deadbeated at least 4 rounds ago.

I noted what Synigma is doing in chat yesterday with a warning shot about ratings and player tags, but have seen no response. Nor has he taken his turn. Technically, because of the way this game has become, this player has not done anything illegal. But as noted, this player would no longer be participating in this game under normal circumstances.

Thanks for the links TheForgivenOne.

Obviously this case is a tricky one, I am marking this pending for the time being, give us time to consult and come forth with the best resolution for this. In the meantime I have sent a PM to Synigma telling him that he is taking advantage of the situation. His last turn was taken in round 290 and it is currently round 303, so by all means he should have been eliminated for missing 3 turns by now.

As always please rate/foe as you see fit.

Thanks,
King Sam

Too harsh, he did not cause the hiccup. It is anomalous, and while I think he's not being sporting, in reality, the two other players should have been targeting him when he started to miss turns. You're setting yourself up for an elimination by missing turns.

This is a special case given the circumstances around the loophole in the settings so it has been forwarded to lack.

A message was sent to him by myself requesting that he continue on in the game in a sporting manner, and if found that he is taking advantage of the situation this could be treated like a normal case of
intentionally deadbeating. Either he heeds the Warning or doesn't. But the best course of action would be to take that advice given below.

My 2 cents worth since I basically just play on this site and have no real decision-making authority...
Banning is way too harsh. He honestly might have rationalized his choice to do this by saying it's not stopping me from doing it...which it wasn't. But at the same time, I don't think he should be allowed to continue in that game. I warned him in chat on Wednesday afternoon and King Sam sent him a private message at some point (yesterday morning at the latest). So it appears to me he is intentionally continuing this strategy despite the warnings, one warning being from a site moderator. I think that warrants being removed from the game.

Exactly, he has not logged on since 10/3/09 and probably does not know he is still active in the game. He was kicked out of others for missing.

Updating the situation...all further discussion could be moot at this point. The game is over, another player won. Synigma never did get his deferred troops.
All's well that ends well I guess.

this case was a special case given the circumstances surrounding the loopholes in the set up.
There still hasn't been a decision made yet, but one will be made soon and if a punishment needs to be sent out then one will regardless of the status of the game. But thanks.

Game has already ended and this is one example of a game glitch that is already under the webmaster's jurisdiction. No punishment is needed here. The game has been posted at one Suggestions & Bug Reports thread for the webmaster's reference.

Well it's closed now so no one will probably even read this but I like how only ONE person even considered the fact that I wasn't doing this on purpose. And that person looked and found, oh guess what, that I had in fact timed out of all the other games I was in at the time as well. And after stating this people ignored it and still didn't seem to consider that maybe I couldn't get online to play for a while, due to a sudden loss of internet for example.

There was an epic failure in logic here. If I was taking advantage of some bug would I really have let ALL the other games I was in drop off just to try to get some small advantage in this one game?

It's a shame that I was not able to finish this game, I was curious how it was going to turn out... but this assuming I was cheating thing is a real slap in the face.
