Concise description:
ok i am tired of playing assassin games and having someone get killed by someone else who is not their target. so i came up with a solution... a new game type. i am pretty sure this has not been suggested.
Specifics:
the game would go like this... you win by killing a player who is your target... just like in assassin, BUT if somebody dies and is not killed by the right person the game is not over, instead say player 1 killed player 2 but player3 had to try to kill player 2... player 2's target would then become player 3's target and the game continues w/ out someone (me included) killing the wrong man.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
it will stop people from killing the wrong man in assassin and giving points to a player who does not deserve them...
p.s. I still think assassin should be an option as a game type because this would be a whole new thing.. people might try to eliminate people who are almost dead so they wont die from the person who needs to kill them.
Actually - I think it's a good suggestion... at the moment sometimes in AssAss games - if someones target is nigh on dead - you're quite often powerless to stop it.
If I can't take out my true target, but can take out someone else's (before they can) then I leave them with a new target who is stronger ... There's be new allegiance possibilities - make sure A is eliminated, but not by B ...
So for example ...
5 player game:
player/target
A/B
B/C
C/D
D/E
E/A
If I'm A and can see D is about to take out E I can enlist B and C (and of course E) to try and take out D. C gets left out in the cold and we have to make sure he can't take advantage of our work ...
I'm sure there are other permutations, but are there any that break the idea ?

Indeed - or if D goes for it and falls short - someone can come in and kill E before his eyes - he then gets a new target and the game carries on!
Perhaps 'Hitman' games could become a mixture of Terminator/Assassin games... you have a specific target that will win you the game, but you can also eliminate other players for their points?

I think your on the right track... How about a Terminator/Assassin type game, and when you eliminate a player, who ever had that player as their target get their points. Then it's just like the person had deadbeated; obviously the person who eliminated them gets their cards, and then the person who had them as their target gets their target, and the game continues. Basically...
A/B
B/C
C/D
D/E
E/F
F/A
B eliminates C, B gets C's points, cards, and D becomes his target.
B eliminates A, B gets A's cards, F gets A's points and B becomes F's target.
That would continue until the game is over.

Not sure I like eliminating people for other people to get points!?
Hmmm.. I prefer the thought of it being a terminator-type game, where you can get points for killing anybody, but that you also have an assassin target that will get you everybody's points...

No it doesn't, if you kill the wrong target, whoever had that target wins.
And gets all the points...
Yes, It's happened to me many times before.
So if you were playing the variation I proposed, it would in fact be what happens if you kill the wrong target. The person who had them as their target gets their points. Just like in assassin.

That doesn't make sense... Yeti C said "Not sure I like eliminating people for other people to get points!?", but as max pointed out, "It's what happens in assassin, if you kill the wrong target". But you disagreed with him. And now you're just speaking nonsense...

Anyways - yes I know it's what happens in AssAss at the moment - but I thought this suggestion was to attempt to go away from people being able to gift each other points.
The way I see Benn's suggestion is... everyone's a target and therefore should be killed - but if you kill your priority target - you win overall.

Which works better (for me) than your version.

Ah, but I don't like that. I think it's just dumb... Too much like standard.

i didnt want this to turn into a whole new thing... an eight player game of this game type could turn into a one on one for the points of all eight players. it is just like assassin but someone actually has to do work and kill someone to get ALL the points. i dont really like the idea of getting the points of people u killed hu werent yur target
