I don't think a centerscape improvement could really be called a "revamp," because there's nothing to revamp. It seems to me that it's closer to making a new map from scratch.

I did read the full thread and I see no logical reason why it isn't ok!!Now I have no clue what all goes into making a map or bringing it into public, but this isn't map making it's a touch up.If there was somehow/way of seeing the times played as of old map vs current u would see a dramatic fall off on this and classic. Why not just pull the ugly thing out of circulation?

In many respects I agree with you prankcall... The decision to replace the maps rather than simply pull them altogether was presumably made by lackattack.

I'm just guessing, but maybe because there were games being played on the map at the time, and lack didn't want to just kill those games. Also, there were tournaments already running that required the continued use of the map.

I'm not going to post any more in this thread, because all I can do is say the same thing: I don't think much of the Skittles-earth map, but until we're told otherwise by the big turtle it's what we're using. If and when we're given the go-ahead to replace it, I'll happily submit a map for consideration... I even have a replacement idea already. ;)

All it needs is for the gameplay to stay the same

I was just about to send out a PM to lack regarding this quote, and whether or not it precluded any foundry developing any maps with the Centerscape gameplay layout... when I noticed something. By "these maps," he was referring solely to Classic: Shapes and Classic: Art. In fact, the announcement only ever refers to classic, and makes no reference to centerscape in any way.

Believe me, I think that a Centrescape revamp is an absolutely brilliant idea. I really do hope that it will be able to happen at some point in the not-so-distant future, and again I'd be happy to either run it or participate in it For now, though, I think we need to give both that map and the classic map a bit of breathing room.
I was thinking that he meant that they may be forced to make more changes to the maps, not that they couldn't be improved by the foundry.
