Nevertheless, Metallica has made plenty of amazing songs. Not to mention their most recent album wasn't half-bad. They redeemed themselves with that album. Not completely, but somewhat.MeDeFe wrote:Metallica has become shite, Megadeth hasn't yet.

So what if they're old? Plenty of people still listen to The Beatles and The Who and they are waaaay older than Metallica. Age has nothing to do with skill. If anything, skill comes with age.Neoteny wrote:Well, they both win the award of "fucking old."
I've probably listened to more Metallica, but that's not so much a comment on quality as quantity.

Metallica on the other hand can be great.
How so? I'll admit, St. Anger was a failure, but it was an attempt to try something new. Other than that, they have always been great.InkL0sed wrote:Other times, not so much...
Well, I absolutely love songs like Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Nothing Else Matters, etc., but some of their more hardcore songs - not all, but some - are just kind of mediocre in my opinion, even leaving out St. Anger. Enter Sandman and I Disappear are both pretty boring, in my opinion, for example.LYR wrote:How so? I'll admit, St. Anger was a failure, but it was an attempt to try something new. Enter Sandman is definetly one of the most overrated songs of all time, but it is still pretty good. However, in my opinion, their hardcore songs are their best (trust me, I LOVE Fade to Black, Sanitarium, and Nothing Else Matters), like Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and For Whom the Bell Tolls (basically, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are my favorite albums by Metallica).InkL0sed wrote:Well, I absolutely love songs like Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Nothing Else Matters, etc., but some of their more hardcore songs - not all, but some - are just kind of mediocre in my opinion, even leaving out St. Anger. What you may find boring others may find to be something utterly different. It depends on what you look for in music. Believe it or not, I know people who think AC/DC is better than MetallicaInkL0sed wrote:Sure, Master of Puppets is also great, and Ride the Lightning has an awesome guitar solo, and For Whom the Bell Tolls is alright. I'm just saying there are times when Metallica is just boring.

not when Bon Scott was alive...MeDeFe wrote:AC/DC only has one song, but they change the lyrics and make minimal changes to the rhythm and melody to create an illusion of several albums.
That doesn't make them bad, just not very diverse.
