Do you think the drinking age in the United States is reasonable?

It does seem to be, yes.

Texas is pretty flat. You get much more perspective when you can climb a real mountain.

However, typically you can get reactions along the lines of "you got a uniform.. that's an ID to me! you are obviously over 21!" However, officially, the law is the law.. everywhere.
The military USED to do this, but they do not any longer. If you're not 21, you're out of luck on a military base. In fact to throw out an example...in Germany, you can legally drink off-base under 21, but not on-base (so you better be taking that taxi back to the base...).

For the most part correct. I'm in the military. The whole deal where they use to let one underage drink on base is now long gone. There are so many drinking related incidents these days that they have gone and tightened up the reins. While you are stationed in the states, if your not at least 21, you don't drink without risking NJP (Non-Judicial Punishment for those that don't know). However, overseas, it is up to the CO's discretion, on wither or not to reflect that countries laws. For example, I have many a friend in Japan, and they are allowed to drink under the age of 21 (lucky SOB's). The CO is pretty much judge, jury, and executioner, thus having this wonderful ability. Also its my understanding that when on a boat, once out of national waters, its the captains discretion of the drinking age as well.

I wonder if there are studies regarding drinking problems in countries with no drinking age.

I think the drinking age in the US has a lot more to do with parenting in absentia by the government (much like a lot of things the government does). Keep in mind that we also outlawed all alcohol for a period of time in the 20th century, so we're a weird culture that way.
