I most certainly do. If you had paid any attention (ironic, considering what you just chastised me for), you'd see that I've repeatedly admitted that the CC staff aren't faultless in this. They probably aren't. Some of them definitely haven't helped the matter by becoming involved in the "melee". But I don't have to have observed the whole process to be able to point out the hysteria levels seem to have risen by the day. Do you really think comparisons to the Nazis and the Politburo are valid? You don't see how that could just further put their backs up, and make them even less likely to listen to your arguments (however well founded they may or may not be)?
The problem is they do not listen when we are reasonable. If they did then these threads would not be running on.
I agree, and this is part of the problem. But I maintain that the other part of it is that people are now freely taking potshots at them. They'll hardly be likely to listen to reasonable arguments when everyone and their pet have a go at them, even when they calmly try to make some points. I just think that at some point, people need to realize that they are part of the problem right now.
You've answered your own question. It goes like this. We ask a simple straight question. We get either obfuscated replies, replies quoting untruths or no reply at all. Is it any surprise those of us who think for themselves find this frustrating. Then, when we attack those replies we are then treated to replies designed to aggravate further.

The day will come soon when a site as good, and with as good coding, does exist. I would not be surprised to see quite a few leaving at that point. Then of course, the management, in their limited vision of their world will not understand why, just as so many companies who have a great product but lose focus on the customer tend to ultimately be taken out of existence by a company with the same product but better approach to its customer base.

Yeah, I can't agree more with this statement.

But don't hold your breath you little C.C. junkies. Face the fact that you can't or won't quit the site. That fact then empowers the owner/operator and his appointed minions.

The fundamental problem is in your outlook, and your refusal to accept the following:

--This is not a large corporate service company with scads of competition.
--This is not a government agency with a duty and a mandate to serve the people.

This is a privately run website. The fact that it offers enhanced services for cash does not enter the equation. It does not justify any sense of entitlement EVER. It's Lack's house and if you don't behave, if you act like a dumb shit, or hell, if he just doesn't like you, your out the door.

He has no obligation to be fair, or unbiased, or even nice. If you don't like it, you can leave.

It's that simple.

You effective options are to:

--use another forum service like POA
-- code another site that competes with C.C. and have all the fun that offers of appeasing and riding heard on the countless opinionated sheeple that think that they have a say in anything that happens on it because they have the "power of the people" and "freedom of speech"

I really cant see this as a valid point. I think most people here are trying to enjoy themself in here. The CC community has brought alot to this site. Not limited to maps and tournaments.

The people in here are not trying to make CC a worse place, in my eyes they are trying to help lack make it better. If everone who didnt like things around here just "shut up" or "leave" i think this site would have been alot worse then it is today.

Hasbro has no site where you play only with real people as opponents. Never will -- too much work to manage such a site for a corporation to take on.

yeah, they could never assemble as many people as CC has running this place. can you imagine how difficult it would be to assemble a team as large as CC's for a multi-billion dollar corporation? i mean, they only have MONEY and BENEFITS to offer... what a silly idea... what corporation could ever compete with a mom and pop? i dare any corporation to try and come in and displace my neighbourhood Wal-Mart!! we are so loyal to the Wal's and Mart's, no corporation could ever run my little corner mom and pop shop out of biz...     ...-0

p.s.-i love CC, but let's keep it real. and seriously, andy has finally entered the suggestion thread so these ideas have merits... just like the bigotry guidelines being changed, the community can get things done around here.

Careful with playing classic map; apparently a preference for starting games with Classic is now farming.

really? so far this year the community was able to change the Bigotry Guidelines to something that was more indicative of how large a problem bigotry had become on CC (despite one admins initial stance against said change). and now, the community has spoken loudly enough about the current state of the cumulative infraction and banning guidelines, that the admins have begun a dialogue for a possible change:

Well Owen, your drive and enthusiasm is inspiring. Perhaps you can shine some light on this jaded soul yet.

Tell you what: You actualy get admin to set up some firm reform on bans that would have changed D.M.'s situation and I'll send you a couple of jars and a t-shirt. ( honeyb.ca )

You have 120 days to accomplish your mission, if you choose to accept it.

And I truly do hope you have some success.

I don't think we have rights as regards the rules of moderation, but we clearly do have SOME power to at least influence things.

so, working to get the bigotry guidelines changed and now working to get the cumulative rolling system of bans is just changing the rules and has nothing to do with the rules of moderation? i think i am lost. i don't even think i understand what i just typed... but don't the mods enforce the rules? doesn't changing the rules also change the way things are moderated? i am so confused...-0

Let me try again. We don't have RIGHTS to anything as regards the rules of moderation...we're stuck with what we get. However, we do have SOME POWER to influence what those "things we're stuck with" are.

A right implies that we are entitled to something, which we are not.

You have got to be friggin kidding me, this site was created based upon the classic map, and now they are gonna count how many times i play it? somebody better warn robinette. This is ludicrous.

Well, only if New Recruits happen to be the ones joining the Classic games you create; as though you can control that. Apparently you're a farmer if New Recruits keep joining whichever game setting you prefer to make on public games, even if you did not invite them specifically to join; even if you're playing whichever players happen to join; and even if you're not joining new recruits' games.

Apparently if NR's like your settings, you're supposed to stop playing those maps as public games, or you're gigged for farming.

Of course, there was a suggestion at one time to enable whoever created a game to opt out before the game started; if the site would put that suggestion to work, people who happen to prefer settings that NR's like to try, wouldn't have the problem of "since NRs like your public games settings, you're a farmer." They could say, "No thanks," rather than "Start Turn" and play only games that fill with others.

A classic (excuse the pun) case of what started as a way of making the site better taken by those who abuse their postions and then twisted until it becomes a stick to beat that same community with. And let's not forget, this springs from an original problem the community howled about for months before the admin/lack finally shook themselves out of their slumber and actually did something. Of course, once he did do something all the usual slavering sycophants crept out of his rear to offer their undying love and congratulations before slithering back up inside the nice warm world they inhabit.

I am unsurprised at this turn of events. I sense a nasty, vindictive, spiteful and mean streak in the present management set up that when married to an arrogance of self righteousness borne out of an incapability to see all aspects of the prism means this kind of thing will become pretty commonplace in time.

To make it more interesting, there was a recent "how to" thread, where someone was asking how to minimize "treucing" in games. Most of the respondants suggested the guy start playing .... the exact setup the supposed "farmer" was opening on public Classic games.

While the achilles heel recently took the stance that this setup is designed specifically to appeal to new recruits, so gave someone a "farming" warning.....experienced high-rankers are still suggesting the very same setup (5-player esc) as a way for anyone of any rank to avoid the nastier elements of the games.

This is just how George Orwell predicted things would happen, Big Turtle is watching.

Apparently if NR's like your settings, you're supposed to stop playing those maps as public games, or you're gigged for farming.
why are you spreading these lies? this is not true.....

While the achilles heel recently took the stance that this setup is designed specifically to appeal to new recruits, so gave someone a "farming" warning.....experienced high-rankers are still suggesting the very same setup (5-player esc) as a way for anyone of any rank to avoid the nastier elements of the games.
Stahr, I know you've been unhappy (as am I) with the lack of what we see as proper action being taken against game-chat-abusers, but hitting thread-after-thread with this really isn't going to help.

King Achilles merely suggested that the individual diversify his games some, not ALWAYS counting on his absolutely preferred setup, as a way of avoiding being accused of farming. He was only "noted", he was not "warned".
...I prefer a man who will burn the flag and then wrap himself in the Constitution to a man who will burn the Constitution and then wrap himself in the flag.

1) Hitting thread after thread informs anyone else that the action is considered misbehavior.
2) I see not much difference between "noted" and "warned" when the person was told to stop or else...
3) The individual does diversify his games *some*
4) People continue to recommend those settings to anyone to avoid other problems with games on the site, which means that any other individual could be "noted" and told to stop or else... so they can either "note" the concern or ignore it and wait to be officially "noted" by admin.
5) Has nothing whatsoever to do with game chat.
