suppose it comes down to where you are from in the uk its deemed racist, but a word like snigger isnt as it means to snicker or jeer at something and that was considered racist

So now all you have is the inappropriate user name? This is a little
What do you do when you play cards? Take out all the spades?
These words need to be USED in EXPLICIT context to evoke their very highjacked slur definitions.

no one said it COULDN"T be possibly used in that context, just that the mere exhistance of it as a username does not automatically make it revert to that definition.
If my name is Bake, am I a baker or a fucking pothead? Or do i mean to burn Holocaust victims?
What you want to do is censor words just because they MIGHT also have connotations that are unsavory. That is dumb.
I guess the name and how you percieve it depends on where you were born and possibly how you were raised (I'm not saying that you were raised wrong or bad). Personally I don't see anytihng offensive about the name. When I first read coon I thought about a racoon but I certainly didn't think that it was a racial slur.
I'm a white gal who grew up on the outskirts of DC in the 60's and 70's; the word was used extensively by a few of my neighbors as the racial slur the OP is indicating. I now live in Florida and it's 30-40 years later, and the word coon means that ringtailed brat that keeps getting into my garbage and growling at me when i try to scare him off.
My point? I doubt the nick should be abolished as a racial slur, but the possibility has enough merit for the OP to have asked; maybe moreso if he's from DC in the 70's
coon used in the context of what your suggesting can be racial in form. However their is nothing present to back up that this was the intention of this username so this case will be Cleared.
To be clear on what a spurious report is, cause it was mentioned I have listed an explanation below.
Yes its one that wastes our time, but that statement is geared towards claims that are:
completely ridiculous and hold no merit to what the accusation is
created for spite or vindication because of an altercation of some sort
continually created on a user in hopes that eventually you will get them for a violation
continually created by a user that lack evidence "this player is too good" explanation
created that have the sole intention of flaming a user or his gameplay
Obviously there is more that could go in the list above, but I think you get the hint. Although a little research would have shown that in the past we don't usually resort to punishment in usernames that are like this one (as mentioned "[player]Third Reich[/player]") the complainant had a viable question.
There is a brand of cheese called coon in australia. Stop looking for people that could offend someone. Don't want to see improper user name accusations for people with white as part of their username. White been an ethnic slur in some parts of the world..... Oh and foed firth.

KS
Don't know if you saw how this report was originally filed: Linked to a game with no chat that the suspect in question was winning, all sorts of formatting errors, other accusations such as multi, PM abuse, secret diplomacy (2 player game? WTF?).
That is why I called it a spurious report initially. However Dezzy fixed it correctly after my post.
firth4eva wrote:So we can call people a coon without punishment now?
what do you think?
I pretty much spelled it out to you in the first sentence of my response when I Cleared the report.

Cause I have to say it again. NO. you use that word in the context or near the context that you are implying and you will receive punishment

Oh, and firth is effin foed.
I didn't see the initial post in which this occurred, nor did anyone quote it for later but even with all those errors unless it was completely obvious the form was made in lieu of trying to do anything to get the OP in trouble then it wouldn't have been considered spurious.
