Is this thing accurate at all? I think my political ideology is more to the right than this survey says.

yeah, while I think this probably got my social views pretty well right on, economically, too many of the questions are written in absolute form with words like 'always' and 'never', so I think it's skewed me a bit farther left economically than I really am. I took another one of these a few months ago on a different site and scored similarly on the social scale but more like +1.5 or so on the economic scale. I'll see if I can find the site.

From the FAQ

Some of the questions are slanted

Most of them are slanted ! Some right-wingers accuse us of a leftward slant. Some left-wingers accuse us of a rightward slant. But it's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass.

Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.

Incidentally, our test is not another internet personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it.

Good point. I'm liberal socialist scum then :D

Wow, more extreme than I thought! Dirty commie scum!

   wow! never put this guy in power!

To be honest, my views are nowhere near that extreme. I'm pretty centre in terms of social values in the measures taken by other people which I support (i.e. not those questions asked on the site). Don't worry.

Yer, though I'll get something around this area. They really needed a middle option, rather then having to agree or disagree with everything. The questions are a bit general, but they do the job overall.

I love the forum compass, but do you not think it would be better to use letters/numbers combinations? The symbols are a little confusing...

Just go A1,B1,C1...X,Y,Z...A2.B2,B3...X2,Y2,Z2... etc. etc.

Here's mine:

Economic Left/Right: -8.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03

Dammit, I wanted to beat Guiscard on both scales, but I didn't manage it.

Mind you, looking at some of the results here, I'm wondering what on Earth some of you have been saying in response to the quiz...

EDIT: Oh, and the results so far suggest that what I said in the Marxists thread about the direction of the bias in CC was complete bollocks. I might have to admit luns101 is right about something after all.

Wonder if they could attach a graph to this to better show where a persons views contradict themselves(according to party) at the very least.

Wow and i thought some of you were conservative bastards, guess i was wrong

Funny, I'm actually way more of an economic liberal than social. At least, I care about economic issues more. Oh well, maybe I'm wrong...

GFY

Still feeling really lonely and secluded as the only person in the entirety of the right side of the graph. That, and my name is spelled wrong :?
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

From what you said elsewhere, it's deserved! I hope lots of annoying American evangelicals join you, and start pestering you about how evolution is just a theory!
