Correct, right now still poly games
If the games are somehow totally Anonymous why is Premium still needed ... if a separate system has been developed to play without using our Real Details ... why not have it also include waiving this restriction as well?

Why do you keep mentioning Homeworld & NPC World as different? Are they not the same with the exception that an NPC starts with no Owner?

Or are they truly different? If yes - visibly different as well?

Well it’s not a separate system, it just hides the players names.

Well, they are similar. Both provide you income in the same manner etc, but they are different in several ways. As you said, one of the ways is that someone will for sure own a Homeworld vs a NPC world only being owned if someone else claimed it first.

Visibly different, yes.

One purchase is one minefield, which does 1d4 damage to a starship that lands on that hex in the future (one time use). It’s a costly resource drain but can be effective in some scenarios without risking ur fleet in battle
As the gaming system is Turn Based - only the 1st ship to enter the Hex would take damage?

I’ll double check the wording, I believe it affects any ship in that hex.

EDIT: edited the wording in op. It’s all ships in the hex when it goes off

Does it only Detonate and the END of the TURN CYCLE?

Can a detonation trigger other mines to explode as well? Maybe those currently still attached to a ship?

It resolves at the end of the turn of the player whom landed on it.
Does not trigger other mines or ones not placed yet

We officially have 11 sign ups!
Got a few more no’s replied.
We have 3 more who said they are signing up.
Of those 3, 2 have been in active communication.
So I would say very promising 13, maybe 14.
Above that would be a (welcome) surprise.

I am communicating with a few more as well now so we will see.

This would be appreciated... I am more a play and learn kind of guy... I tried my best to read all that and understand it all but I just can't grasp a lot of the more detailed information by just reading it...

We have 13 official sign ups, there is one more perhaps hours away. If I can collect their sign up in the next 8 hours before I’m home from work, I’ll count it as well for #14.

I did a lame attempt, but its really hard to make a video that will be worth while. I might try again here soon but yeah, the easiest thing is to play it and pick it up.
I can do a video explaining the basic structure etc of the game and how it works, which will be a good foundation for how to play.
But theres a lot of scenarios that "can" come up (one of the reasons why the rules are so big) which are usually just a lot of details about how specific things work in case its needed.

It is pretty basic / straight forward, it has four buttons. "move" "buy" and "close" as well as submit / unsubmit turn.

Click buy, and will allow you to add things to the map. It will show different icons available for purchase. You click that, and a box appears to name that item.
You then select the hex you want it deployed (it will narrow down whats allowed for each unit with a yellow hex). You click that, and it will add that purchase
in the upper left of the map with a "x" next to it if you want to cancel that purchase.

If you click move, any starships can be selected and yellow hexes will appear equal to your movement allowance. click the hex you want to move to.
It will then add that movement in the upper left with a "x" incase you change your mind or want to move somewhere else.
Do that for all starships.

Close is to close out the move / buy thing and icons etc. Submit at the end of all your moves and I will receive them on my end for review.

I will definitely be contacting and assisting in the beginning to make sure everyone knows whats going on, and if we can get this thing up and running before the 21st 100%, then I will open it up to a play period / sandbox type thing you guys can mess around with. But it should be basic enough that its fairly understandable whats expected.

For tutorial, it depends on my time. Right now I'm focusing on the map building and testing of the program and trafalaxy map.

Start date is pushed one week, to Sunday Jan 28th to get last minute items worked out. We are 99% of the way there, but I don't want to say we are starting Tuesday or Wednesday even if I think it'll just take a day or two, as I want to have a solid start date. So Sunday it is, and it just gives us all extra time to work on your plans, or answer more questions, etc

I know I'm really excited and looking forward to getting this underway.
Cheers

Re: [CR@W] Homeworld [Turn 1 Due Wednesday]

Post by IcePack »

Starting / Turn 1 Q&A

Q: Holy Crap! Its started and I'm not sure what to do?

A: Don't worry! You have until Wednesday Jan 31st @ 2400 CCT to submit your turn! Remember, these first turns are easy ones and you'll learn what to expect / how to play slowly as we progress through the game. So things should be pretty smooth for you. Things to remember during Turn 1!

1) You can't spend earned income (credits or ore) until the following turn. So Turn 1, you ONLY have the credits and ore shown on your sheet (you can't spend more just because you expect to earn it...income comes at the end of the turn, for your next turn)
2) You must build at least one Starship this turn (minimum). Submit the players name who will represent the starship, as well as all the other details (frigate, battle cruiser, dreadnaught, and tech levels) and the costs...the PM I sent out gives a good example of what your PM might look like).
3) If you build more than one Starship, remember you have to designate one as your Flagship (the best one is probably preferable)
4) You'll have to add that starship onto the Meta map as well! You'll click:
Buy
Click the icon associated with what you want to buy
In the text box, write the name of the Starship (no special characters)
Click the location (your homeworld will be the only accessible location at the moment)
When you are done with your actions (you won't be able to move anything yet) click "submit"

5) send any other actions in a private pm to IcePack such as research levels, tech levels, Raheel trading accounts, etc.
6) note, for this Turn initiative probably doesn't matter. But you'll want to keep an eye out on it for the future :)
