Some sites have just the net figure, others show the upvotes and down-votes separately. Which would you propose? Either way, it would have to ensure that any individual can only vote once per topic, although they should be able to withdraw their vote by clicking the same option again.zen330 wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 9:42 pm Some forums have this feature built in whereby people can “thumbs-up” a post (see an example thread from a good open-source website below), or even add in another icon (like “thinking”). I like this idea as it is a way for people to express support for a post without taking the time to write it out in a reply, providing a bit of extra encouragement for good ideas and giving the site additional information about what people here would like to see.
I’m wondering if this forum software has this feature built into it (or maybe via some already-made, well-functioning mod), and if so if this site would enable it.

This was actually an issue from the past.Apatheist wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 6:28 amSome sites have just the net figure, others show the upvotes and down-votes separately. Which would you propose? Sadly I can see people getting upset and reporting abuse just because they get downvoted; experience elsewhere suggests that some people can't deal with the concept that they, or their ideas, are not as popular as they think they are (or should be).

It didn't to me, but I don't know whether that's a setting or not.zen330 wrote: Sat Jan 10, 2026 11:00 pm @Apatheist (does doing the @ thing on this site give the @-ed person a notification?):
There is a button at the top that says Player.

That creates a link to the player's profile, it doesn't send a notification that the player has been mentioned in the conversation, which is what the original query was.gcwca_4_life wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 12:04 amThere is a button at the top that says Player.
It puts a bracket in the text field, and you can put a players name in the middle of it. It makes it a clickable link.
Like so.

It won't notify. It just makes their name a clickable link to go straight to their profile.zen330 wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 4:31 am OK thanks, I will try to use the quote function if I want to notify someone of my replies to them here in the future.
