Re: Line of Duty Mafia game - DAY 1 Game on

Post by homer_jay »

wow, a lot happen in the last two days. glad to see though that i'm not the only one coming back after the weekend feeling like i missed a lot.

my last post was saying that Hjelp was pushing too hard about sonic's soft claim. ostensibly, that puts me on sonic's side at that point. but re-thinking that idea based on a few things.

ragian's long, detailed post. sonic's response to that screams of "i can't argue the content so i'll attack the delivery"

sonic's explanation of his soft claim.:
SoN!c wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 6:29 am Soft-claiming means hinting at your role without explicitly stating it.

When your soft claiming you’re trying to give enough information that town players can pick up on it and maybe trust you, but scum can’t be 100% sure what you are either.

It can also bait scum into mistakes / scum might react nervously to this (hinting at more info).
i don't see how a soft claim can get townies to trust you but confuse scum. if you're vague enough, both sides are unsure. if you give enough detail to get the town's trust, you've also given enough detail to get scum attention.

*****
on another topic that has come up. i've already stated my opinion that i would only vote for a D1 lynch if someone is clearly suspicious. so by corollary, i don't see any benefit to lynching an inactive. admittedly, i'm working under the assumption here that they aren't deliberately avoiding the game to hide their role. i'm assuming they're inactive due to real life things keeping them away. and that can affect townie as easily as it affects scum. so it would be a lynch that's based on literally zero information about the game and their role.

Unofficial vote count: corrected

Ragian (2) Strike Wolf, SoN!c : votes on Wed Feb 25, 2026 4:17 am and Sun Mar 01, 2026 10:54 pm

Djfireside (2) Kongming : vote on Thu Feb 26, 2026 9:47 am, Charle vote Thu Feb 26, 2026 8:47 am

SoN!c (1) Ragian vote on Fri Feb 27, 2026 10:19 am

Riskmaster101 (1) Kingm : vote on Thu Feb 26, 2026 2:24 pm

Strike's vote on Rag was a joke vote but i hope he thinks about it before unvoting.

I also want to say that yes i softclaimed a cop role fast. But just in case you forgot: we are all cops in this game..

Please keep that in mind. Otherwise it looks way bigger then it realy is.

TO NOTE {Removed color from quotes to not mess with other voting}

Catching up a bit but I agree in Ragian's thoughts that limiting claims is a good idea but thats the game premise anyways. I was reading through on Sonic trying to catch more on the softclaim but keep hitting the same wall in my head and started with Ragian comment on charle and missed the second line when reading through today
Charle wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2026 4:02 am I missed a lot over the weekend, @Loose, can we get a vote count please?

I is too early to start pointing fingers at this time for me, but Sonic's sort of soft claim gives him a lot of leverage should anybody comes up with a similar role, therefore I would say it is a bit scummy to me, but not definite, knowing Sonic's play style.
A few posts later you reminded
Charle wrote: Tue Mar 03, 2026 1:20 am Hi Sonic, I think I also had a vote on DJ if I remember correctly?
Its too early to point fingers but you were clear to note that you were pointing your finger at me.. for no reason other than to bandwagon a joke vote.
Charle wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 1:47 am I am new to this site Ragian, brand new! Always the excuse people use anyway. :)

We have the two camps normally, Traf with his no vote day 1 for his reasons and EW who always say we need to vote day 1 so that you play first before scum, not giving scum the first move. Personally, I don't mind either but we need to start voting to get a claim out or at least getting the game going. So at this stage I will jump on the wagon with Sonic and Vote djfireside. No hard feelings DJ :D
All for a bandwagon but the person you were following on the bandwagon quickly got off cause it was a joke but you stayed on and even pushed it afterwards but saying its too early to start pointing fingers but that you are on a bandwagon that lost its driver. Also, shortly after in the same wagon followed kong with a similarly strange reasoning
kongming3 wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 2:44 am As always, I am all for lynching day 1 as it gives town the most information and doesn't simply give up the day for no compensation. Vote SoN!c for claiming suspicion on the only 100% confirmed townsfolk to me and not answering my question!
Not sure who they think is the 100% confirmed town on day 1 and then Bandwagon...
kongming3 wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 2:47 am Oops, never actually asked the question I had to loremaster sonic. With that in mind, Unvote, Vote Djfireside.
Ill keep reading on Sonic but FOS on kongming3 and for jumpy logic and unclear voting with people quickly acting the same and what seems scummy VOTE CHARLE

Yep sorry
Cofari has messaged me so is in the game but I'm now wondering if he's unclear what to do
I need to try harder with Cofari and General Cod to lead them into participation
I think some of you guys are playing risk games vs Gen Cod
And also get out an official vote count
But thanks for the unofficial ones

the "we" in rag's post would be referring to townies.

these "we"s are both on townie side. he's saying that we are giving scum info.. a buffet..

who knows, he might be scum. but his english here was fine for townie side.

Official Vote Count;

Ragian 2 - Strike, Sonic
DJ fireside 2 - Charle, Kongming
Riskmaster 1 - KingM
Charle1 - DJ Fireside

Sorry Sonic I couldn't find a vote on you from Ragian

Ragian - yes you DO NEED to watch the show its the best ever
Do you need to watch the show for the purposes of this game - probably/hopefully not essential- but I did lean into it quite a bit in devising roles so it might help

I've posted on Cofari and general cod s walls now

I'm making a vote!

First, a recap: I call out Kingm for what looks like attempted bandwagoning in this post
Kingm wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 7:24 am Vote Riskmaster101

Very sus not confirming, would like to vote then other none confermers also, but lets start with riskmaster
And he says he never said that. You can see what I said about kingm and his response here:
Kingm wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 10:19 am
annieh wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 9:30 am Good morning!

My current suspicions:
--sonic less sus- he's got strong feelings about suspects, strong feelings about me. I can accept that the dude just feels strongly.

--Ragian more sus because I don't think son!c giving one example of a power role after being asked is at all the same as admitting to anything. Now we got ragian saying "newbie caught you out" when that's not what happened. I consider that a potentially misleading mischaracterization. Hjelp said a similar thing in what felt more just provocative than like attempting to establish a narrative.

--Kingm more sus because I don't like that one time he said "let's all vote for riskmaster." "Let's all" should come after even a little consensus building efforts. And that other time when he said "lol super sus" to sonic not immediately throwing out an accusation when I came at him. Could not saying "nuh uh, you are sus!!" be a mafia ploy to charm a chatty player? Maybe, but there's only so many moves there and I think sonic chose one of the less sus options

--And of course our silent players. Forever sus.
I never said lets all vote for Riskmaster.
And Riskmaster is one of the players that has been silent, and has not confirmed role yet.
“I never said lets all vote for Riskmaster” is not something you can say after you have said, “would like to vote then other none confermers also, but lets start with riskmaster”

I wanted to wait for Kingm to come back and say there’s some context, some reasonable explanation and maybe he will. Maybe he even has some game expertise that makes him worth keeping around. I’m on team vote someone Day 1, no one has given me a better reason to vote for them than he has, and idk when this day ends, so…

VOTE Kingm

Im already convinced your scum because your massive frame-up attack, with you stitching up a whole lot of trivial things to point out im scum n°1 when you very well know it's just my play style.. that's bad and can only have ulterior motives that in turn can only be attributed to a scum alignment.

So "don't argue with a sealion*1". Because the sealion will drag you down to his foolish level then beat you with experience.. It's just a bunch of repetitive, bad-faith, or tangential questions that move the goalposts*2.

*1: Sealioning is insincere, relentless questioning for basic, widely known, or tangential points. Your questions are not sincere but just designed to one purpose : "Look at SoN!c, don't look at me" or changing the subject (moving the goalsposts).

*2: “Moving the goalposts” means you're never going to be convinced because every time you are given onarguable answers you just shift the subject to keep from admitting you're wrong.

So yeah im pretty much ignoring you so others can see the whole "Look at SoN!c, don't look at me" better. Short version: your a scum sealion that just moves the goalposts...

Great. Son!c is once again proving anti-town.

@Charle, I named a few other players who have caught my eye (because Son!c is convinced, for whatever reason, that I'm solely targetting him) and I wanted his views on that, but alas to no avail. I've lost count on how much he has dismissed now just to sit on his throne of OMGUS.
