Les Misérables vs The Hobbit

Post by CreepersWiener »

Definitely a short read, not to mention a musical and a movie now. A novel that truly reflects the socioeconomic environment of turn-of-the-century France--The Hobbit will surely please its readers and Victor Hugo fans!

Has to be Gandalf I mean yeah Sauron would probably kill him but he'd just come back as whatever color that comes better than white is.

I'm picking Napoleon. The man created the largest contiguous land empire in Europe in two decades; he's good at something.

I voted Gandalf, I mean, come on...
But honesty these two movies have something important in common: They're shameless rehashes of brilliant originals. Hollywood has turned to shit imho.

What original for the Hobbit? the Book or the animated movie? The animated movie was fine yes...as a kid's movie.

The book, ffs!
I've seen the animated movie and it's pretty neat in it's own right but it's the extremely abridged version of the book is it not?

In that case, Hollywood turning books into movies is about as old as well...Hollywood movies.

Yes, but now it's done in such a "cheap" way that even those people who always wanted to see their favorite books on the big screen are, in their heart of hearts, disappointed. Movies are getting less and less artistic and more and more accessible(in a bad way) to the point where the need to please the demographic overshadows any love that could be put into a film. These remakes/rehashes are way too glitzy and "Hollywood" to have any real depth.
