Settlers of Catan

Hello.

I am looking for something that is to Settlers of Catan as CC is to (The Game Which Must Not Be Named). I've found several sites, including the official one, which allow you to play online with others, but all of them are real time. I'd like to find one like CC that gives you a day to take ...

Re: Strategy Games

Oooo.... The Europa Universailles series. Hundreds of territories. Interesting interface.

Boardgames for the PC; Ultimate Risk. Decent AI, doesn't complicate the gameplay except with a few optional rules that make it more fun. Has several CCish maps (read, much larger) that make the basic game more ...

Re: Strategy Games

Caesar 2 and 3
Pharaoh/Cleopatra The two above and this are by far the best city-builders I've ever played.
1602 Loved it when I was younger, but the AI's just so dumb.
Lords of the Realm 2. Ditto

All older ones, I know. I guess I just don't play as many computer games as I used to.

Oh. Duh. The ...

So, an American wonders... What are the basic platforms of these parties? I can guess Green easily enough, but how about the others? I'm particularly interested in this UKIP.

Re: Pepsi Throwback

If I lived in America, I'd be an alcoholic. Beer is so cheap there.

And I'd chew way too much tobacco.

Or maybe I'd just drink and chew the same amount and buy fancy pop.

Not in PA. Our Nanny State makes sure we don't hurt ourselves with the nasty beer. (Not to mention, keeps the extremely ...

Didn't the Queen's appointee, actually do something a couple of months ago? Dissolve Parliament or kick out a PM? I remember some sort of Constitutional Crisis.

You gotta hand it to Canada. What other country has the US tried and failed to invade on three separate occasions?

Re: Estate "Death" Tax

While the way that this robs people of their final decision on how to spend their own money, it is the damage that it does to small, family-owned businesses that is the real killer. The tax makes it prohibitively expensive to pass the company on from one generation to another.

Ask it the other way round. What right does anyone else have to restrict a person's liberty if they are not infringing on that of anyone else?

Re: Ender's Series

I've read Ender's Game at least 6 times in my life. The second one didn't have the battle room, so I gave up on the series after that. I could care less about the Ender's Shadow series since, if it was written only for money, and not because he was inspired to tell a story, then I don't care ...

Re: Ender's Series

I really liked the Bean/Peter/Petra offshoot (Shadow of the X) better than the Ender ones. Cool way of playing out a WWIII scenario.

Supposedly, he's going to come out with a final book to join the two series again. But of course, Card has publicly admitted that he only writes another Ender book ...

Re: Why can't we have solar panels in the desert?

Why the desert? The sun shines in plenty of places where there is already power infrastructure.

I don't understand why we would want to place solar panels in the middle of nowhere and spend a ton of money to wire them up when there are millions of office buildings with empty roof's (rooves?) that ...

Re: Why can't we have solar panels in the desert?

Plus, I wouldn't call that a desert.

I would call this a desert:

Africa could get its wealth back if the Sahara desert was put to use for electricity.

Big issues on this would be the lack of infrastructure and ...

That was a ghost.
Ghosts don't exist, if albino squirrels are ghosts, they don't exist either.
But if albino squirrels do exist, and they are ghosts, then that means that ghosts are real.

I'm all for them as it should be a parent's right to get their child whatever sort of education that they deem best. As to quality, while generally better, it certainly varies quite a bit. There are certainly some public schools that are better than some private ones. It all depends on the people ...
